Job Description:

Reporting to the Finance Director, the Financial Modelling Manager is responsible for leading the development, maintenance, and governance of complex financial models in support of strategic, operational, and investment decisions within the company. This role partners closely with operations, site finance teams, accounting, corporate development, internal relations, and executive leadership to support strategic capital allocation, M&A opportunities, external financing initiatives, internal asset valuation, and long-range planning.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical financial modelling expertise with a deep understanding of mining economics, cost drivers, and operational risks, with an ability to effectively manage multiple cross-functional stakeholder groups and present complex data to executive leadership in a clear and concise manner.

The day-to-day:

  • Lead the design and oversight of integrated financial models in support of: Life-of-Mine (LOM) plans, External financial publications, Capital allocation strategy, and M&A, joint ventures, and divestiture evaluations

  • Develop and maintain bottoms-up cost models enabling analysis on key financial an operational metrics to enable visibility and analysis of key metrics such as NPV, IRR, All-in-Sustaining Costs, ROIC for each mine site

  • Assess and quantify key risks in LOM plans and growth options at each mine site

  • Provide rigorous financial modeling and analysis to support leadership teams in making informed decisions on capital allocation and project prioritization

  • Support the development and publication of SEC filing documents (i.e. SK-1300, NI-43101, and Mineral Reserves and Resources) with thorough operational and financial knowledge, financial modelling skills, and detailed QA/QC of base modelling assumptions

  • Support the Business Improvement team as needed by developing financial templates for the evaluation of continuous improvement projects at each site

  • Support the Corporate Development team in aligning the company’s debt instruments with long-term financing needs

  • Establish best practices for model structure, documentation, version control, and review processes

  • Ensure consistency and accuracy across financial models used by the company

  • Train and mentor finance team members in advanced modelling technique

  • Perform ad hoc analysis to provide valuable insights for the finance, technical, and other cross-functional teams

  • Produce reporting deliverables for presentation to executive leadership and board members

  • Support the corporate finance team initiatives and serve as backup for other areas of corporate finance, as-needed

Is this you?

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, engineering, or related field, and 8-12 years of working experience

  • Demonstrated experience in the mining, extractive, or other natural resources sectors

  • Professional designation (CPA, CFA, MBA) an asset

  • Proficiency in building and maintaining complex financial models, with demonstrated capability in: Optimizing calculation speed and file stability, Developing logical model structures with clear delineation of inputs, calculations, and outputs, and Utilizing advanced Microsoft Excel formulas and techniques (ie dynamic arrays, advanced formulas, named ranges and structured tables, advanced macros, etc.)

  • Advanced experience in data integration/automation for modelling, including: Data transformation and loading tools, linking models to ERP/budget systems and technical/operational data sets, experience in basic VBA or similar programming language

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management

  • Strategic thinking and commercial acumen

  • Leadership and mentoring capability

  • Strong attention to detail and data integrity, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills with the ability to summarize the key points in an analysis

  • Experience in SAP, OneStream, or PowerBI reporting an asset

For applicants residing in CO, the salary range for this role is from $130-$150,000.Benefits: 401(k); medical/dental/vision insurance; employee share purchase plan, PTO, STI and LTI.
