Field Service Technician -Â Maintenance & Repairs/Fire Door Inspector

Summary
We are hiring a Fire Door Inspector / Field Service Technician to inspect, maintain, and repair fire‑rated and smoke doors in healthcare and commercial facilities nationwide. This role ensures compliance with NFPA 80, NFPA 105, and International Building Code (IBC) standards through accurate inspections, detailed reporting, and hands‑on maintenance and repair work. This is a travel‑intensive role where you are paid to work and travel, supporting life‑safety compliance in critical environments.

What You’ll Do
- Inspect fire‑rated and smoke doors per NFPA 80 standardsÂ
- Complete REMEDI8® Fire Door Inspection training per TMP‑001 / ISO 17020:2012Â
- Perform maintenance and minor repairs to doors, frames, and hardwareÂ
- Repair or replace locksets, latches, closers, strike plates, and related hardwareÂ
- Correct door clearances through shimming and alignmentÂ
- Fill holes in doors and frames and perform minor surface repairsÂ
- Clean, install, and adjust closers and hardware to resolve latching or closing issuesÂ
- Develop action plans for door replacements with facility stakeholdersÂ
- Document completed and incomplete repairs with accurate specificationsÂ
- Read and follow Life Safety Plans (LSPs) while navigating facilities independentlyÂ
- Complete tablet‑based inspection and repair reportsÂ
- Follow infection control requirements in hospital environmentsÂ
- Maintain professional communication with customers and internal teams

What We’re Looking For
- Experience in fire door inspection, maintenance, repairs, or similar field service work
- Ability to read and work from Life Safety Plans independently
- Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand and power tools
- High attention to detail and ability to identify and document deficiencies
- Ability to perform on‑site troubleshooting and repairs
- Self‑motivated with the ability to meet deadlinesÂ
- Accurate record‑keeping and documentation habits
- Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, computers, and Microsoft Office
- Fire door, life safety, or code compliance experience preferred but not required

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach for extended periods
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders
- Ability to work above ceilings and in confined spaces
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to work evenings or weekends as required
- Ability to travel extensively

- Ability to pass drug screen and criminal background check
- Willingness and ability to travel 100% of the time
- Must live within 50 miles of a major or international airport
