What to Expect:

United Ground Express (UGE) is seeking a skilled and motivated Ground Service Equipment (GSE) Mechanic to support Ground Service Equipment operations at Denver International Airport (DEN). This is a hands-on role responsible for performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of GSE and related facilities. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in varied and extreme weather conditions, capable of operating multiple types of equipment, and skilled in accurately troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems in a fast-paced airport environment.

 

How you will make an impact

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs on a variety of GSE
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues accurately and efficiently
  • Operate and test various types of GSE safely and effectively
  • Complete repairs in compliance with company policies, manufacturer specifications, and safety regulations
  • Accurately document all work performed, parts used, and labor hours in applicable maintenance systems
  • Read and interpret repair manuals, technical documentation, and basic electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Communicate repair status and equipment condition to supervisors and internal customers
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, heat, wind, snow, and rain
  • Utilize proper PPE and follow all safety and airport regulations
  • Assist with facility maintenance tasks as assigned
  • Support other stations or locations with maintenance needs during occasional travel assignments
  • Complete all required safety and technical training
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support DEN operations 

What you will bring:

Experience/Competencies

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a heavy, medium, or light-duty mechanic
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems
  • Ability to read and understand basic electrical and hydraulic schematics
  • Must possess own set of hand tools common to the trade
  • Ability to work non-traditional schedules, including weekends and holidays
  • Knowledge of general workplace and equipment safety procedures
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment and power tools
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to support other GSE shops or stations
  • Ability to pass all DEN airport security, background, and drug screening requirements

Knowledge/Skills: 

  • Previous experience working in an airport environment
  • Strong hydraulic and pneumatic troubleshooting skills
  • State and/or ASE certifications in automotive or diesel repair
  • 3+ years of experience as a heavy, medium, or light-duty mechanic
  • Experience working in a CMMS (FleetFocus preferred)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, and PowerPoint

Education:

High School Diploma or GED required

  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. on a consistent basis
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods
  • Ability to work in tight or elevated spaces using appropriate PPE
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment, power tools, and motor vehicles
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to use computers and maintenance systems for data entry and reporting
