Job Description:
This position supports the VP, Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability in the development and implementation of the safety, health, security and risk management strategic plan aimed at achieving SSR Miningâs value of âSafety first, alwaysâ. This role will manage key management systems and provide information and recommendations that support the continuous management of risks and their controls within SSR Mining.
The Day to Day:
- Sets the strategy for SSR Miningâs safety, health, risk, and management systems and is accountable for the implementation of the strategic planÂ
- Manage development, implementation and ongoing improvement of safety and health management systems and procedures globallyÂ
- Sets standards for risk assessments and facilitates risk assessments through common risk assessment techniques, e.g., bow tie analysis, HAZOP, LOPA, job safety analysis, field level risk assessment, etc.Â
- Manages development implementation and ongoing improvement of health, safety and risk information management systems globallyÂ
- Manages the corporate health, safety and risk audits/assessments programÂ
- Develops and facilitates training and educational programs Â
- Develops analysis and reports trends on health, safety and risk management dataÂ
- Provides on-site safety and health management support at operating assets and projectsÂ
- Provides incident investigation and root cause analysis oversight and supportÂ
- Develop various safety and health related reports and ensure appropriate distribution and feedbackÂ
Is This You?
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in safety, health, risk management, or related fieldÂ
- Masterâs degree (MA/MS) in health & safety management, risk management, mining engineering, or related discipline and assets preferred
- Direct experience working in a mining organizationÂ
- Knowledge of contemporary mining health, safety and risk management systems and practices Â
- Ability to travel internationally and work at altitude (14,000 ft+). Medical verification requiredÂ
- Expected range of regular travel: 30% - 40%Â
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with site and corporate personnel Â
- Able to develop corrective actions, and provide consultation to address complex company problems/issues that lack precedent and require advanced technical skills and knowledge to resolveÂ
- Able to work independently, facilitate teams and under a flexible work schedule when requiredÂ
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills Â
- Ability to conduct detailed analysis using database and raw safety and health data sourcesÂ
- Ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the companyÂ
- Ability to work with relational databases, software systems and O365 (Excel, Word, SharePoint, Power BI)Â
- Ability to demonstrate commitment to a culture that values and manages to safety excellenceÂ
- Work history that includes experience with a multinational mining company and the ISOMETRIX software platform preferred
- CMSP, CSP, CRSP, CIH, ROH, designation desirable
For applicants residing in CO, the salary range for this role is from $200,000-$220,000.Benefits: 401(k); medical/dental/vision insurance; employee share purchase plan, PTO, STI and LTI.
