Who We Are
The mission of the Denver DA’s Office is to protect the community, to seek equal justice for all, and to improve the quality and fairness of criminal justice on behalf of the people of Colorado. We achieve that mission through excellence in our work investigating and prosecuting crime, supporting victims and their families, working with the community to prevent crime, and providing fair alternatives to incarceration in appropriate cases. The elected District Attorney is the chief law enforcement officer in the City and County of Denver, and is responsible for the prosecution of violations of Colorado State Laws. The current Denver District Attorney is John Walsh.
Location
This position reports on site from 8:00AM to 5:00PM at the Republic Plaza building located at 370 17th St suite 5300 Denver, CO 80202.
What You’ll Do
The Denver District Attorney’s Office is seeking a Discovery Clerk – Administrative Assistant to join our team. This position is responsible for processing discovery requests, maintaining associated records, and providing high-quality administrative support to the attorney and courtroom teams.
Key responsibilities include:
Discovery Intake & Processing
- Intake Entry of Appearance (EOA), Public Defender lists, and Discovery Requests
- Scan all EOAs, Motions for Discovery, or discovery requests into Action with accuracy
- Verify documents are added to the correct case
- Enter the appropriate defense party into Action and ensure attorney information is accurate and current
Case Review & File Management
- Review cases to determine what information is discoverable from the Action filing cabinet and evidence.com
- Move all applicable documents into the appropriate discovery folder; de-duplicate as needed
Communication & Coordination
- Respond to all discovery-related phone calls and emails from the public, defense bar, and defendants
- Maintain open communication with attorney teams regarding discovery issues
Team Support & Administrative Duties
- Support the Administrative Support Assistant (ASA) Unit and understand department-wide responsibilities
- Learn additional team roles to provide coverage across the unit
- Seek clarification on procedures when needed and demonstrate initiative
Time Management & Workflow
- Manage workload efficiently with strong multitasking abilities
- Prioritize tasks to support courtroom teams, peers, and supervisors effectively
- Handle urgent discovery tasks on the same day
- Adapt quickly to departmental, office-wide, or procedural changes
Confidentiality & Sensitive Information
- Review cases to ensure Trails Reports or other confidential materials are not inadvertently released
- Redact Personally Identifiable Information (PII) as needed on pro se cases
- Redact TRAILS reports, explicit photos, and any other sensitive materials, as needed
- Seek supervisory guidance when unsure about proper redaction protocols

Required Minimum Qualifications
To be considered, applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:
Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate
Experience Requirement: Two (2) years of clerical experience
Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement
