In this role, you’ll help power the physical plant by operating and maintaining the mechanical systems that keep the organization functioning safely and efficiently.
From generating and monitoring steam to producing chilled water and ensuring emergency power is ready when it matters most, your work helps keep critical operations moving. You’ll work hands-on with boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, compressors, emergency generators, air handlers, refrigeration systems, and other essential equipment. If you enjoy solving problems, working with complex machinery, and being part of the team that keeps everything running behind the scenes, this role is for you.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be a member of the appropriate local union.
- Solid understanding of trade practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in the mechanical field, including the safe use of torches and welding equipment.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, read diagrams and blueprints, and keep accurate records of work performed.
- If driving is required for the position, must meet and maintain the requirements outlined in the Fleet Driving Safety and Compliance Policy.
- Ability to climb ladders and push or pull up to 95 pounds; lift up to 50 pounds.
- Strong dexterity, balance, and coordination for safely working from ladders and scaffolding.
- Ability to perform physical tasks throughout the workday, including standing, lifting, climbing, reaching, bending, stooping, pulling, squatting, and walking.
- Ability to wear a half-mask respirator in compliance with OSHA safety standards.
Required Qualifications
EPA Section 608 Universal Technician Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
Mechanical technical trade school training.
Experience working in a healthcare facility or large industrial environment.
