Field Service Supervisor III

Overview

Core services include transformer assembly, oil processing, regasket and life‑extension work, substation apparatus testing, and high‑voltage equipment maintenance to ensure safe, reliable system performance. We work on a wide range of substation equipment—power transformers, breakers, switches, arresters, and control cabinets—and perform essential diagnostics such as TTR, winding resistance, insulation resistance, power‑factor testing, and oil analysis through our dedicated in‑house laboratory. With a nationwide fleet of mobile oil‑processing units, we provide rapid on‑site support backed by strong technical expertise, a commitment to safety, and disciplined field execution to keep critical power systems operating reliably and efficiently.

Pay: 

The hourly rate for this position is between $55 – $65 per hour.

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

 

Position Overview 

The Field Service Supervisor provides senior technical leadership for complex transformer and high voltage apparatus projects, overseeing inspection, repair, maintenance, and testing of transmission and distribution substation equipment. The role directs multi-crew field execution, resolves technical issues, and ensures compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee field crews performing advanced installation, inspection, maintenance, testing, and repair of transformers and high voltage substation equipment. 
  • Promote a strong safety culture, adhering to company safety policies, PPE requirements, and conducting regular JBOs. 
  • Plan and coordinate complex field activities, including resource planning, customer communication, and job-site readiness. 
  • Provide expert technical guidance for advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, and problem solving on transformer and apparatus work. 
  • Perform or oversee all transformer testing required within project scope, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation. 
  • Mentor technicians to strengthen technical capability and field leadership across multi-crew operations. 
  • Maintain accurate records of service activities, equipment repairs, testing results, and customer interactions. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams for equipment needs, materials, logistics, and scheduling future crew assignments. 
  • Communicate scope changes and field deviations to support cost recovery and project documentation. 

Qualifications

Required: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • 5+ years of experience in transformer services, high voltage testing, substation work, or related technical field operations 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-crew field teams and support complex projects 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to coordinate with customers and internal teams 
  • Proficiency with MS Office and digital reporting systems 
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record 
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. and work safely in outdoor, high voltage environments 
  • Willingness to travel frequently, including overnight stays 
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including overtime, weekends, holidays, and nights 
  • Successful completion of background checks and post-offer, job-related medical evaluation/drug testing where permitted 

Preferred: 

  • Advanced experience with transformer testing and diagnostics (e.g., Doble, DLRO, insulation resistance, winding resistance, CT ratio/saturation, power factor) 
  • Knowledge of substation apparatus including HV/MV circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, CTs, PTs, CCVTs 
  • Experience planning testing scopes, interpreting results, and supporting field engineering decisions 
  • Familiarity with crane/rigging, oil-processing support, and advanced transformer service procedures 

Work Environment & Physical Requirements: 

  • Field-based work in outdoor substations and industrial sites 
  • Regular domestic travel with occasional international travel 
  • PPE required; reasonable accommodations may be made
