If You Want to Learn the Law, These are the Reps.
You are the first point of contact for every prospective client who comes to Burnham Law - usually on one of the hardest days they have had. Different facts, different people, different problems, every single day. That volume is the fastest legal education there is. You will see more situations in a year here than most attorneys see in three.
Some of them you will not have the answer to. That is the job working correctly. You will have a team behind you - attorneys who have tried these cases, who pick up the phone, and who will work the problem with you. Nobody figures it out alone here.
Then you go practice. A small caseload of your own, so you keep sharpening the skills that make you good at the first call in the first place.
Who We Are
Burnham Law is an elite Colorado- and Arizona-based firm representing clients in domestic relations, civil litigation, probate and estate planning, and criminal defense. We work hard, support each other, and win together. Excellence, accountability, and teamwork are not wall art here - they are how we staff cases.
What You'll Do
Full-time, exempt. 30 billable hours per week: at least 20 hours of legal work, up to 10 hours of consultations.
- Consult with prospective domestic relations and criminal defense clients
- Evaluate matters and deliver clear, strategic guidance - no hedging, no jargon
- Partner with Client Development so the handoff from first call to signed client is seamless
- Carry a small caseload: pleadings, discovery, research, hearings, mediations, negotiations
- Own your deadlines, filings, and documentation
Who We're Looking For
Energetic. Coachable. The kind of attorney who wants to be measurably better in December than they were in August, and who is building a career on a real foundation instead of chasing the next title. That is what we can offer - the reps, the team, and the foundation.
- JD from an accredited law school and an active Colorado license in good standing
- 2+ years practicing. Domestic relations required; criminal defense is a major plus
- Sharp research and writing - sharper client instincts
- Comfortable in a courtroom, on a cold first call, and saying "let me get you an answer"
- Westlaw, Filevine, and Microsoft Office preferred
- Valid driver's license and reliable travel to courts and client meetings
