Job Description

Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor

Job Overview:

Experienced and hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to lead our maintenance team in ensuring the safety, reliability, and optimal performance of bakery equipment and plant systems. This role is ideal for a proactive leader with strong technical knowledge and a passion for mentoring others, driving improvement projects, and maintaining a culture of safety and operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Supervise and coordinate the schedule and daily activities of maintenance technicians, mechanics, and leads.
  • Provide coaching, training, and support to develop individual and team capabilities.
  • Assign and monitor work orders, ensuring timely and high-quality execution.
  • Facilitate effective communication between shifts and departments to maintain continuous operations.
  • Conduct performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and team meetings as needed.

Operations & Equipment Management

  • Oversee preventative and corrective maintenance for all bakery production equipment and utilities, including HVAC, refrigeration, boilers, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot issues with mechanical, electrical, PLC, and control systems.
  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance activities are aligned with safety, quality, and production goals.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts, equipment upgrades, and new installations.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce adherence to all company and OSHA safety standards, GMPs, and PPE requirements.
  • Lead and participate in safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and the maintenance shop are safely maintained and organized.


CMMS & Inventory Control

  • Oversee the effective use of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for scheduling, logging, and tracking maintenance tasks.
  • Manage spare parts inventory, ordering processes, and ensure accurate usage tracking.
  • Support data-driven decisions through accurate documentation and reporting of maintenance activities.

Project Coordination

  • Plan, prioritize, and coordinate resources for projects and unplanned downtime responses.
  • Collaborate with production, sanitation, and quality teams to align maintenance with operational priorities.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement solutions that reduce downtime and increase reliability.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or bakery environment, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS systems, equipment schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Familiarity with food manufacturing safety standards (GMPs, OSHA).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work varied shifts, weekends, or emergencies as needed.


Preferred Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with bakery production equipment and utility systems.
  • Proficiency in welding, fabrication, and basic PLC troubleshooting.
