Project Manager – Oil & Gas EPC

CANUSA EPC LLC | Denver, Colorado
Full-Time | Primarily In-Office | Project Site Travel
Pay: $50.00–$70.00 per hour

Lead the Team. Own the Project. Deliver the Results.

CANUSA EPC LLC is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Denver project team and lead the execution of upstream and midstream oil & gas projects.

This role sits at the center of project execution—bringing together engineering, design, procurement, vendors, clients, and field teams to keep projects moving from kickoff through delivery.

We're looking for someone who understands how EPC projects actually get executed and is comfortable taking ownership of scope, schedule, budget, client communication, team coordination, and overall project performance.

This is not a role focused solely on reporting project status. Our Project Managers are expected to actively lead their teams, identify problems early, drive decisions, maintain accountability, and build strong relationships with our clients.

What You'll Do

Project Leadership & Execution

  • Lead upstream and midstream oil & gas projects from kickoff through engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction support, and closeout
  • Establish project execution strategies, priorities, milestones, and team expectations
  • Develop and manage project scope, schedules, budgets, forecasts, and resource requirements
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across process, piping, mechanical, electrical, civil/structural, automation, engineering, and design
  • Maintain accountability for project deliverables, deadlines, and commitments
  • Identify project risks, constraints, and potential delays early and develop mitigation plans
  • Manage project changes and communicate impacts to scope, schedule, and budget
  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, fabrication, vendor, and field activities
  • Support execution of both greenfield and brownfield facility projects
  • Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with client expectations, contractual requirements, and CANUSA standards

Client & Team Leadership

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients throughout project execution
  • Lead internal and external project meetings
  • Establish clear expectations and communication between clients and project teams
  • Work closely with discipline leads to establish priorities and resolve roadblocks
  • Communicate project status, risks, decisions, and action items clearly and consistently
  • Coordinate vendors, subcontractors, and external project partners
  • Support and develop project team members through clear direction, accountability, and mentorship
  • Build strong working relationships with client engineering, operations, construction, and management teams

Project Controls & Commercial Management

  • Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, forecasts, and progress tracking
  • Monitor actual performance against planned hours, cost, and schedule
  • Identify potential overruns and scope concerns before they become larger project issues
  • Manage change orders and ensure out-of-scope work is identified and documented
  • Support TIC estimates, proposals, project estimates, and new business opportunities
  • Participate in resource planning and project staffing
  • Prepare and present project progress, cost, schedule, and forecast reports
  • Support project invoicing and contractual documentation

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a Project Manager who can see both the big picture and the details required to get the work done.

You don't need to personally perform every engineering task, but you should understand EPC project execution well enough to ask the right questions, recognize risks, challenge assumptions, and keep multidisciplinary teams moving in the same direction.

Experience & Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience supporting engineering, EPC/EPCM, construction, or energy projects
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects or significant project scopes
  • Experience in upstream or midstream oil & gas, refining, petrochemical, or a closely related industry
  • Experience working with an EPC/EPCM firm, producer, midstream operator, or similar organization
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering and design teams
  • Strong understanding of project scope, schedule, budget, forecasting, and change management
  • Experience working directly with clients, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Familiarity with greenfield and brownfield project execution
  • Working knowledge of PMI-based project execution principles
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical field preferred
  • PMP certification preferred but not required
  • Valid driver's license
  • Valid passport and ability to travel between the U.S. and Canada

Work Environment & Flexibility

This is a full-time, primarily in-office position based in our Denver, Colorado office.

CANUSA believes in-person collaboration is important to successful project execution, particularly for positions responsible for coordinating multidisciplinary project teams.

We also understand that life happens. CANUSA provides reasonable flexibility for appointments, family needs, and occasional personal obligations. This flexibility is intended to help employees manage those needs and is not a regularly scheduled hybrid or remote-work arrangement.

Periodic travel to client and project sites throughout North America is required.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range: $50.00–$70.00 per hour

Actual compensation will be determined based on project management experience, oil & gas industry experience, technical background, leadership capabilities, and overall qualifications.

CANUSA EPC offers a competitive benefits package including:

  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits
  • 401(k) with 4% company match
  • $500 employer HSA contribution
  • 11 paid company holidays
  • Paid time off
  • Participation in Colorado FAMLI
  • Employer-paid and voluntary benefit options
  • Professional development and opportunities for increased project and leadership responsibility

Why CANUSA EPC?

At CANUSA EPC, Project Managers aren't simply responsible for updating schedules and running meetings. They're an integral part of how our projects and our teams succeed.

You'll lead multidisciplinary teams, work directly with clients, influence project execution, solve real-world problems, and see projects progress from early development through field execution.

We're looking for leaders who want to take ownership, build strong teams, and deliver work they're proud to put their name on.
