Job Summary:

The Property Accountant will oversee the full-cycle accounting for properties in the portfolio that are managed by Highlands Vista Group Management. This includes all aspects of accounting support for a portfolio of 8-12 properties. The ideal candidate has a strong mindset for partnership with operational counterparts and the asset management team and takes a collaborative approach to the overall success of the organization. An ability to identify opportunities to drive improvements and efficiencies is critical to this role.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze various transactions and identify appropriate accounting treatment
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger
  • Reconcile monthly banks statements to the general ledger
  • Record and process accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Process cash receipts and prepare bank deposits
  • Prepare tax and insurance amortization, accruals, and reconciliations
  • Monitor daily cash balances
  • Process debt service payments
  • Assist management with special projects and other tasks
  • Open communication with property managers, regional managers, analysts, asset managers, controller, and principal.
  • Has a “can do” productive self‐motivated attitude, demonstrates proactiveness and suggests improved processes
  • Flexible and adaptive in a fast‐paced and dynamic environment
  • Responsible for completion of ad‐hoc investor, lender, and other requests as needed

 

Desired Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of experience in accounting or real estate accounting, preferably multifamily
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or commensurate experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong prioritization of customer service
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize multiple projects
  • Yardi software experience preferred
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret, analyze, articulate, and compile financial reports
  • Strong problem‐solving skills
  • Self‐starter comfortable working in an environment with evolving roles and responsibilities
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with various internal and external parties
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Knowledge of banking systems including ACH and wires
