Quality Engineer II
This position is located On-site in our Denver location.
Quality Assurance Engineer II is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving the product quality management system in accordance with ISO 9001 and AS 9100D. This hands-on role drives root cause analysis and investigation activities for high-impact quality issues. The position actively supports the QMS by leading internal and process audits, developing robust procedures, maintaining quality records, training personnel across office and shop floors, and executing supplier qualification and monitoring programs.
This position requires a close, effective, and collaborative working relationship with Manufacturing, Engineering, Assembly & Test, Project Management, Administration, Purchasing, and Warehousing. The role operates under minimal supervision, reporting directly to Quality Assurance Manager.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Proven ability to lead and facilitate structured problem-solving events (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone) within a company-wide continuous improvement program.
Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100D standards (required).
Solid experience in process and supplier auditing; execution of internal, process, and supplier audits.
Advanced proficiency in blueprint reading and dimensional inspection, including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
Provide active technical support and hands-on training to Quality Technicians and Inspectors on defect identification, dimensional inspection, and standard operating procedures.
Experience gathering quality data, analyzing trends, and generating departmental KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).
Qualifications / Skills / Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent related experience in addition to required experience.
- Experience: 3 - 5 years of progressive quality engineering experience within a manufacturing or assembly environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Audit Certification (Plus): Certification as an ISO 9001 or AS9100 Internal Auditor is highly desirable.
- Preferred Certifications (Plus): Holding a welding-related certification, such as an AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), CSWIP, or equivalent, is highly advantageous.
Working Conditions:
- Working conditions are standard for a heavy manufacturing and welding environment, where exposure to moving mechanical parts, sharp cutting tools, dust, fumes, airborne particles, temperature extremes, and elevated noise levels is expected.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, talk, and hear.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
