The primary function of this role at ListenUp is to facilitate and streamline the process of handling client project opportunities from inception to the execution phase ensuring ListenUp is delivering a great client project and experience. The Sales Engineer works closely with Sales Consultants, Account Managers and Branch Managers, as well as technical staff at all levels, to coordinate the initial sales and design phases of a project. The primary focus of this role is to use resources wisely, including additional design and technical personnel, as well as provide technical and general leadership to the sales representatives responsible for delivering the client experience. By providing complementary skills and communication to consultants and clients, the Sales Engineer ensures that the ListenUp team is consistently putting out the best and most reliable project designs for its client.
Role Summary:
This position works to maintain an organized flow of sales opportunities alongside the Sales Consultants, Account Managers, and Branch Managers. The Sales Engineer works on the sales and design aspects of projects from inception up to the higher level design and execution phase. They assist to expand the sales opportunity for client needs to all aspects of custom integration ListenUp provides. Learning and maintaining a high level of familiarity with ListenUp custom solutions and design best practices is a critical component of the role as well as working with individuals of varying levels of technical competency in a professional manner to achieve great outcomes. These responsibilities are not all inclusive and are subject to change.
Project Needs Assessment Responsibilities:
- Ensures that sales consultants of all levels have the tools and support to extract appropriate client needs for projects of various size, scope, and complexity
- Review and direct design solutions in a timely and organized manner through proper channels
- Determine and coordinate the appropriate resource and actions for various project levels
- Follow up to ensure that all opportunities are being followed through and handled appropriately
- Coordinate and manage the project discovery process including joining sales consultants for walkthroughs and meetings to review plans
- Assist with regular communication of technical information to the sales team to ensure the correct, approved, and current mix of products and solutions are being specified
- Help with setting and communicating client expectations regarding their project and user experience
Project System Design Responsibilities:
- Assess and document the required level of design and support for incoming projects
- Manage, communicate, and document design hand-offs to a Project Manager, Category Specialist and/or Lead Engineer
- Produce detailed design documents including line drawings, rack layouts, and pre-wire schematics to assist in proper execution of projects
- Maintain minimum design standards and information provided for non-contract installation requests alongside the Branch Manager
- Ensure non-contract workflow is followed and provide schedule coordination per branch needs
Project Management Responsibilities:
- Document the sales engineering process for records using currently approved software solutions
- Communicate all necessary information to Project Managers ensuring project execution excellence
- Assign design responsibilities to Project Managers and Category Specialists while maintaining oversight of that process and managing its completion
Miscellaneous Responsibilities:
- Assist with the oversight and use of CRM, quotation, and point of sale software
- Work with Branch Manager to address issues arising from design, communication, and processes
- Work with Branch Manager to address issues with technical competency of sales team
- Work with Branch Manager to identify client and salesperson alignment based on client project
CRITERIA

Required Experience/Education:
- Extensive knowledge of control system solutions such as Control4, Savant, Crestron, and Lutron
- Multiple years experience with either design, installation, integration, programming and support of home technology systems hardware, software and technical infrastructure
- Work experience with reading and markup of construction plans
- Proficiency with design tools such as Bluebeam, Visio, and/or AutoCAD
- Familiarity with large technology projects and low voltage integrations
- Solid understanding of home network and control configurations as well as the ability to design those aspects of a project
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with college coursework preferred
Preferred Certifications:
- Design certifications for networking and/or applicable integration systems (Control4, Savant, Crestron, Lutron)
Required Certifications:
- CEDIA or InfoComm certifications and/or coursework in audio/visual systems installation
- Technical certification for networking and/or applicable control systems (Control4, Savant, Crestron, Lutron)
