The Auditor's Office, an independent agency of the City and County of Denver, delivers independent, transparent, and professional oversight to safeguard the publicās investments in the City and County of Denver.Ā The Auditor has Charter authority to audit Denverās agencies in accordance with generally accepted governmental auditing standards (GAGAS). Our audit reports are issued each month to the public through Denverās Audit Committee. We review the efficiency and effectiveness of the cityās services and programs and provide recommendations for improvement. We are seekingĀ aĀ Senior GovernmentĀ InternalĀ AuditorĀ with strong auditing skills andĀ theĀ ability to work independently.Ā Government audit experience is preferred.⯠Under the general direction of the assigned Audit Manager and Lead Auditor, the SeniorāÆAuditor executes performance auditsĀ ofĀ localĀ government functions and activities.Ā

Auditorās Office employees are currently working a hybrid schedule. This position requires a combination of in-office attendance at our Downtown Denver location and remote work. Employees mustĀ work within the state of Colorado on their remote work days.Ā Ā

Specific job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Ā
- Conducting performance auditsĀ and ofĀ cityĀ andĀ countyĀ departments, contracts, and programs that include internal controls, compliance, governance, other objectives such as effectiveness, efficiency, and public policy assessment using Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS) promulgated by the U.S. Government Accountability OfficeĀ (GAO).āÆāÆ
- Assisting the Audit Manager and Team Lead and other team members with all aspects of audits including project planning, fieldwork, report writing and presentation of results to the public.Ā
- Identifying and utilizing optimalāÆaudit, analytical and research methodologies in the execution of audits.Ā
- Displaying well-developed skills of critical thinking, verbal and written communications, workload management, quality work products, and productive and professional interpersonal relations.āÆĀ
- Working independently and ensuring that individual work activities fully comply with GAGAS and the Audit Service Division's operating policy and procedures, prior to Lead or Manager review.Ā
- Producing high quality written products that analyze, synthesize, and explain complex issues for a variety of audiences, such as agency staff andĀ residentsĀ of Denver.Ā
- Working collaboratively in a team environment.āÆĀ
- Performing audit-related internal and external presentations and briefings.Ā
- Performing audit follow-up work for assigned audits.Ā
- Conducting administrative tasks as required.Ā

About YouĀ
Our ideal candidate will surpass our minimum qualifications by possessing:āÆĀ
- Relevant professional government auditing work experience.Ā
- Strong familiarity and experience with GAGAS Standards.Ā
- Experience with data analytics.Ā
- An applicable professional certification, such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CGAP (Certified Government Auditing Professional), CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), CRMA (Certification in Risk Management Assurance), or similar.Ā
- A graduate degree.Ā
- Experience with audit and risk management software.āÆĀ
