Job DetailsJob Location: Colorado Premium Denver - Denver, CO 80216Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $19.60 - $24.50 Hourly Job Title: Shipping Lead Reports to: Warehouse / Shipping Supervisor Summary: This position is responsible for providing direct support to the shipping supervisor by providing tactical guidance to shipping employees. The actively support and guide shipping employees to optimize quality, service and to comply with company policies and procedures. The safety, development and retention of your team is your highest priority. Visibly supports production, and food safety, employee engagement, teamwork, and coaching. Ensures the execution of distribution and transportation planning, strategic activities, and product flow between plants, cold storage, and customers.  Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Assist in guiding the day-to-day shipping operations of the business to ensure orders are filled correctly, and the distribution of product is timely and accurate. Support the department supervisor regarding shipping activities, including prioritizing, and delegating work assignments. Optimize shipping and housekeeping functions as necessary. Trains and provides an environment for employees to achieve their maximum quality and productivity performance in their respective positions. • Support efforts in assigned areas of responsibility related to loss prevention, risk management, USDA compliance, and employee relations. Promotes department and company goodwill through proactive employee communication and employee involvement. As an active participant, supports the training & development and retention of qualified talent. Leads the training and development of existing staff to ensure engagement and succession planning bench strength as appropriate. • Ensures that employees understand the department’s Performance Measurement Standards (e.g. productivity, attendance, tardiness, safety, and quality), and notifies the department supervisor of potential or actual issues. Communicates with employees regarding pertinent information for daily, event or seasonal business issues. Monitors individual employee’s productivity to ensure it supports business objectives. Actively works to build an engaged workforce through the training of staff and the reduction of turnover. • Works with the supervisor to maintain product knowledge, load accuracy, and documentation/ manifesting to support budget goals and efficiencies. Provides information to support processes and methods, while actively championing continuous improvement. Helps optimize the equipment performance, people utilization, product quality and safety objectives. Acts as a tactical resource to the supervisor so he/she can address and resolve inquiries and problems regarding production, quality, and work problems. • Performs routine walking and visual inspections of the shipping floor in observation of unsafe acts or conditions; takes immediate corrective action where necessary to develop and meet plant safety goals. Is actively involved in safety efforts including, attending safety meetings, incident investigations, assisting in root cause analysis, auditing, as assigned. Trains employees to ensure adherence to safe operating procedures. Ensures the completion of all required production paperwork, inventory, inspection, quality reports, maintenance work orders. Education/Experience: • High School or GED required; some college preferred. • Three years progressive experience in shipping operations, preferably in a protein-related industry. • Functional knowledge of MS Office Suite and knowledge of industry product reporting systems. • Ability to read and interpret documents such as letters, memoranda, invoices, policies, and other documentation. • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions, and to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Sufficient mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals accurately. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage correctly. Ability to lead problem solving and troubleshooting efforts associated with operational-level process issues.  #INDSJ Qualifications
