Position Summary
Technician III is a senior-level installer responsible for advanced copper/fiber work, rack building, device installation, troubleshooting, and ensuring installation quality. Tech III supports Leads in supervising small task groups and serves as a mentor for Tech I and II, setting the standard for field workmanship.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Advanced Installation & Pathways
- Build and dress racks, cabinets, ladder tray, and cable management systems.
- Design and execute complex cable routing strategies with minimal oversight.
- Install network devices, cameras, WAPs, card readers, and access control hardware.
- Perform advanced fiber installation including prepping, cleaning, cleaving.
Terminations, Fiber, & Testing
- Perform expert-level copper terminations with consistent, certifiable results.
- Fusion splice fiber and conduct OTDR and light-loss testing.
- Analyze test failures and perform troubleshooting until resolved.
- Produce complete certification reports and documentation.
Leadership & Technical Oversight
- Lead small work groups or project sections confidently.
- Train Tech I and II on advanced techniques and industry standards.
- Review work performed by lower-level techs to ensure quality and consistency.
- Coordinate with Leads on task timelines and installation sequencing.
Worksite Responsibilities
- Maintain high-level safety and ensure others follow PPE expectations.
- Assist with material management and validating BOM accuracy.
- Work directly with Leads and Foremen during project planning and execution.
QualificationsÂ
- 3–5 years structured cabling experience.
- Expert copper and intermediate-to-advanced fiber experience.
- Ability to read blueprints, device maps, and riser diagrams.
- Strong troubleshooting and documentation capabilities.
- Certification in BICSI Installer or equivalent. (Preferred)
- Experience leading small teams. (Preferred)
- Experience with access control or CCTV systems. (Preferred)
