**This is NOT a Landscaping/Grounds position **

Summary: Building Facilities Tech 2 performs a wide range of tasks including the non-technical maintenance of plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilating, and/or air conditioning facilities and equipment, at arc Thrift Stores properties at a level not requiring formal licensure.  May be required to perform tasks of other unlicensed trades, such as a light equipment operator, carpenter and/or painter. Reports to Facilities Manager and Facilities Assistant Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Maintains and performs repairs to building electrical systems
  • Monitors heating, ventilation, and cooling systems for the facilities; performs repair/replacement of components, as appropriate, and maintenance tasks such as cleaning of heating & cooling fan coil units and adjustment of system controls
  • Monitors and performs maintenance of plumbing systems, to include repair of leaking fixtures, cleaning obstructed waste lines
  • Performs maintenance tasks including routine sheetrock/drywall repair, door and hardware installation, paint touch ups of interior as needed
  • May perform general maintenance, custodial, and trash removal tasks
  • Repair and/or replacement of kitchen equipment
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
  • Documents and maintains appropriate records of work performed
  • Performs snow removal, as required
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
  • Available to work 40hrs per week with occasional on-call entailing nights, weekends or holidays
  • Provide personal tools to work independently

Physical Demands - physical work is a primary part of job: 

  • Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, climbing ladders, pushing or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasional exposure to dust, fumes, smoke, biohazardous materials, toxic chemicals, extreme temperatures and/or loud noises
  • Work environment may also involve following extensive safety precautions and the use of PPE (personal protective equipment)

Tech 2 Qualifications


Applicants must have:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience directly related to HVAC operation & maintenance, electrical, plumbing, floor, tile and drywall repair
  • Valid Driver License with a clean DMV record
  • Clean background check
  • Ability to pass random drug screening
  • Experience working with a diverse workforce
  • Ability to work with individuals possessing developmental disabilities
  • Energy to take on fast-paced work
  • Ability to use good judgment
  • Strong written and verbal communication
