Job Title: Traction Power Supervisor

Position Summary:


The Traction Power Supervisor is a front-line supervisor responsible for electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance activities of the commuter rail Traction Power System. This position is responsible for direct supervision of Traction Power Technicians ensuring safety and compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.


Description of Duties:


• Provide supervision, motivation and training for Traction Power Department Staff through direction, coaching, counseling and expectation setting.

• Supervise the inspection and maintenance activities of the Traction Electrification System (TES) to include substations, feeders, Overhead Catenary System (OCS) and return circuits.

• Promote safety awareness and ensure staff are following safety procedures to prevent accidents.

• Oversee the paper and electronic documentation of inspection findings, test results, labor and materials usage in the Maintenance Management System.

• Ensure the maintenance program for routine inspections and testing of the electrification system is carried out efficiently and with a high quality of work.

• Respond to emergencies or severe weather events that affect the TES. To include coordinating with emergency response teams, assisting in the resolution of power related issues, and implementing temporary measures to restore traction power functionality.

• Observe equipment installations and testing of traction power system and report any deficiencies.

• Determine procedures for testing products and direct technicians in testing control apparatuses and equipment.

• Participate in accident/incident investigation and recommend corrective actions as necessary.

• Ensure availability of supplies, parts, and tools necessary for technicians to accomplish work assignments.

• Create, maintain, and update written procedures for electrification system inspections and maintenance.

• Support recruitment efforts by attending job fairs and interviewing candidates.

• Remain informed of all rules, regulations, standard operating procedures, and contractual obligations governing day-to-day operations.

• Complete other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:


• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering preferred

• 5 or more years of experience in inspection and maintenance of high voltage feeder distribution systems and controls

• 2 or more years of experience in an operations/maintenance leadership position

• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage time, resolve crises and make decisions

• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines and schedules

• Knowledge of railroad operating practices, rules and procedures and their relationship to train control design, operation, and maintenance

• Strong computer skills required with experience with Microsoft Office Suite products and Enterprise Asset Management systems.

• Must be able to work outside in variable weather conditions

• Ability to work nights, holidays and weekends, including working overtime as needed.

• Must be able to work at heights exceeding 6ft.



• Must possess a valid state driver’s license; Class A CDL preferred

• Must pass a pre-employment physical examination

• Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and successfully pass a pre-employment background check, drug and alcohol screening and be willing to comply with the DTO Drug and Alcohol Policy
