This position is integral to the Electrophysiology Program as is responsible for the clinical assessment of EP patients and evaluation and optimization of their cardiac device when present. This includes following clinical practice guidelines in combination with analysis and programing of all manufacturers’ cardiac implanted devices (i.e., pacemaker, AICD, OLR), cardiac resynchronization devices and event monitoring devices using specific manufacturers’ proprietary programmers to obtain cardiac functional data with clinical scenario.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Under the supervision of the Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiologist, is directly responsible for the remote monitoring, program creation, maintenance and compliance, for multiple clinics, according to clinical standards.
2. Identifies the need for and is the primary resource and educator for equipment education and provides user (physician, nursing, other allied health staff, families) education on medical equipment specific to the EP program. Provides training and mentoring to less experienced Cardiac team members.
3. May program/reprogram devices based on interrogated data of PPM/AICD under the direction and protocol of electrophysiologist.
4. Performs scheduled/preventive maintenance, electrical safety inspections, and quality assurance on all patient care equipment in a timely manner consistent with regulatory standards.
5. Provides customer relations and resolves equipment service problems by ensuring that clinical capability is restored as quickly as possible. Maintains communication with customers regarding the status of equipment repairs. Proactively solves technology issues when appropriate. Coordinates/schedules service (self, vendor and, when appropriate, other technicians) via management of customer expectations. Performs device investigations related to regulations and/or incident reporting.
6. Responsible for alignment of cardiac device billing and coding with current guidelines and industry standards to optimize reimbursement and operational success.
7. Coordinator for the Cardiac Device support group.
8. Liaison with clinical research team on research protocol conduct.
9. This position has a service responsibility in several departments in multiple facilities. Customers are internal and external (including physicians, nurses, families, other hospitals). This position receives direction from the Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiologist.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
Candidate must possess knowledge as typically obtained through 3 years of experience in Cardiology. BLS Certification is required.
Must obtain International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) Certification within 24 months of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s degree in Business, Healthcare, or related field preferred.
International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) Certification preferred.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
