Job Title:

DF AY26/27 GLOBAL Inclusive Peer Mentor

Job Description:

Peer Mentors in the GLOBAL Inclusive College Certificate Program work with students (mentees) with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Peer mentoring is a structured, supportive relationship that brings college students together with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to provide guidance, encouragement, and meaningful support. Peer Mentors accompany their mentees to classes and internships, foster academic, social, employment, and independent living skills, support participation in campus events and activities, and intentionally promote meaningful inclusion within the Regis University community.

Please note that this position is for the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027

Peer mentors help provide experiences for students in the GLOBAL Inclusive Program that address their academic, social, emotional, career, and self-determination aspirations. Specifically, peer mentors could model, provide scaffolds, and gradually release students toward independence while doing the following: (specific responsibilities vary depending on the assigned shift)

  • Attending class, tutoring, or homework sessions with their mentee(s)

  • Participating in physical fitness and emotional wellness programs with their mentee(s)

  • Attending on-campus events and other campus activities (such as clubs or sporting events) with their mentee(s)

  • Attending internship placements with their mentee(s)

  • Encouraging the independent and self-determination skills of their mentee(s)

  • Attending breakfast, lunch, or dinner with their mentee(s)

  • Assisting with transitions to, from, and around campus (for example, waiting for a mentee to arrive on campus, staying with a mentee for public transportation like Access-A-Ride, or assisting a mentee to class or the dining hall)

  • Attending meetings and trainings as scheduled with GLOBAL Inclusive Staff

  • Submitting timesheets on time with comments that include the activity performed and hours worked (e.g., 8:00–10:00 a.m., internship with [student initials])

  • Completing time and effort certification documentation as required by GLOBAL Inclusive staff.

  • Completing self evaluations. Spring 2027 employment is based on good standing with the program.

Time Commitment and Availability Expectations

Peer Mentor schedules typically average 5–8 hours per week, though hours may vary based on program needs. Weekly schedules are determined by GLOBAL Inclusive staff and are based on the alignment of the Peer Mentor's availability with the schedules and support needs of assigned mentees. Peer Mentors must be available during the specific days and times when support is needed, and availability alone does not guarantee a specific number of work hours.

All Peer Mentors are expected to attend the following required meetings and training sessions. While changes are not anticipated, dates and times are subject to change at the discretion of the GLOBAL Inclusive staff. A Peer Mentor's availability to attend these required meetings and training sessions will be considered part of the hiring process and is an ongoing expectation of employment. If a Peer Mentor's availability changes and they are no longer able to attend required meetings or trainings, it may affect their ability to continue working in the program.

Other employment, clubs, organizations, and extracurricular activities should not conflict with or take precedence over required Peer Mentor meetings and training sessions.
