Job Description

Hourly Non-Exempt Position

 

Position Title:  Front OF HOUSE 

DU and Lone Tree locations                                                                                         

 

PURPOSE: Assisting guests, conducting dine-in or to-go business according to Beau Jo’s standards, quality and speed levels. Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards in the dining area. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

  • Ensure compliance with all health code requirements and company standards. 
  • Accurately and safely handling food allergens and preparing orders with dietary restrictions correctly with care and accuracy to avoid cross contact. 
  • Maintain adequate stocking, cleanliness, and organization of work area, dining room, and bathrooms throughout the day. 
  • Kindly greeting guests upon entry and taking in person orders for both dine-in and to-go
  • Aiding third party delivery drivers and guests with pick-ups. 
  • Contribute to a positive guest experience by ensuring that the food that leaves the kitchen exceeds expectations and is made accurately. This includes calling for remakes as needed and ensuring drinks and sides are given to the guests.
  • Answering the phone within 3 rings, responding to questions over the phone, and taking phone orders. 
  • Serving food and bussing tables. 
  • Process payments of multiple tender types including, but not limited to, cash, gift cards, and credit cards.
  • If over 18, handling the safe and proper sale of alcohol to persons of drinking age, following state and federal laws for said transactions.

 

OTHER DUTIES: 

  • Assist the kitchen staff with making salads when needed.
  • Work closely and communicate with BOH staff in a high pace environment, while doing a variety of "time restraint" tasks. 
  • Working with customers and delivery drivers in a potentially high stress environment. 
  • Cross train to different positions within the restaurant to provide support to other areas when needed.
  • Suggestive selling and upselling to guests while taking their orders. 
  • Using a computer for all orders and transactions.
  • DU location only: duties consistent with bartending including but not limited to taking alcoholic drink orders, preparing drinks according to standards, and assisting guests sitting at the bar. 
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • 100% Stand or walk. 
  • 75% Work at Approx. 36" table and reach in approx. 36”. 
  • 50% Perform duties at a continuously high pace, while maintaining quality and speed standards. 
  • 80% View and read orders from a printed ticket or computer screen.
  • 10% Writing
  • 50% Lift and carry sacks, boxes, and products up to 40 lbs. from floor to above waist level, approx. 20 feet on average and sometimes involving stairs depending on the location. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: Successful completion of hourly position validations, including reading training materials. 

 

  • QUALIFICATIONS: 
    1. Required:
      • Ability to communicate with management and fellow staff.
      • Ability to read and follow recipes/proper procedures.
      • Must be able to maintain proper personal hygiene and follow food safety standards and guidelines.
      • Ability to maintain high levels of courtesy and respect with guests in various situations
      • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position. Reasonable accommodations can be provided upon request.
      • Ability to work well as a part of a team.
      • Ability to arrive for scheduled shifts on time and prepared to work.
      • Ability to handle a fluctuating work environment including the ability to handle periods of down time and periods of high demand.
      • Must be eligible to work in the United States and be at least 16 years of age with some equipment unable to be used by persons under the age of 18. Beau Jo’s will remain in compliance with Colorado Youth Law under the CO Youth Employment Opportunity Act (C.R.S. 8-12-101 et seq.) Minors may not work more than 40 hours per week or 8 hours in any 24-hour period.
    2. Preferred but not required:
      • Past experience working in a pizzeria
      • Past customer service experience in a fast casual restaurant
      • Past work experience in fast paced and high demand environments
      • Past restaurant experience
      • Past leadership experience
      • DU Location only: past bartending experience
      • Past general customer service experience
      • Bilingual always a plus
      • Willingness to cross train into a kitchen role to support other areas of the restaurant

 

COMPENSATION: 

The hourly rate for this role ranges from $16.00 to $18.81 depending on location (not experience) and inclusion in a full staff tip pool. Pay is weekly.
