Primary Objective:

PCB® manufactures piezoelectric sensors used to test and measure vibration, pressure, force, acoustics, load, and shock in research and development as well as industrial and military applications.  

 

The primary objective of the Purchasing Team is to ensure timely delivery of high quality and cost-effective products from a competitive supply base while adhering to global trade and compliance requirements. This position will work closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to effectively and efficiently develop supplier capabilities to achieve design, production, quality, cost, delivery and business relationship objectives for highly engineered, electro-mechanical components. 

 

This position will be responsible for the development and maintenance of new and existing supplier relationships.  This position will monitor supplier performance, maintain PCB’s approved supplier list, manage quality concerns, establish product quality requirements with suppliers through the use of PSW’s and PPAP’s, and support the purchasing organization for all things related to the supplier base.  This position will be responsible to manage and take the lead on new product sourcing projects, risk mitigation projects, and dual sourcing initiatives. This position will represent the purchasing organization in meetings with suppliers, auditors, and customers. 

 

This position shall demonstrate proactive and cross functional communication and collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, proven analytical skills, project management and continuous improvement experience, supplier quality and development experience, and extensive business system (ERP) knowledge.

 

Major Areas of Accountability

  • 1.     Act as the procurement primary point of contact for supplier quality and development efforts.  
  • 2.     Manage PCB’s Approved Supplier List (ASL), including the management of supplier certifications, declarations, and performance records.
  • 3.     Manage the supplier scorecard system, communicate supplier performance and implement effective action plans to improve poor performing suppliers.
  • Partner with internal groups including Purchasing, Design and Manufacturing Engineering, Program Management, Quality and Sales to define requirements and set standards for supplier selection and performance.
  • 5.     Lead cross functional collaboration initiatives between PCB and suppliers to drive lowest total cost and highest value-add relationships.  Establish and drive regular supplier business meetings, including capability presentations and design, development, qualification, ramp-up and quality improvement reviews.  
  • 6.     Conduct capability and risk assessments of current and potential suppliers.
  • 7.     Provide technical expertise and project management for sourcing of components, subassemblies and services to approve and/or develop supplier capabilities relative to technology, performance, quality, cost and logistics. 
  • 8.     Work internally and with suppliers to ensure that selection, development, qualification testing and validation of materials, manufacturing processes, equipment and tooling are performed in a manner that meet PCB’s quality system requirements. 
  • 9.     Lead supplier-related efforts to develop new process technology and supply chain management methods to support the design, development, manufacturing and ramp up of next generation product offerings. 
  • 10.  Perform strategic sourcing activities in support of customer requests or internal projects including authoring effective SOW, RFI, RFP, or RFQ documentation, reviewing responses, supporting supplier selection, ensuring documentation and flow down management, and coordinating with appropriate internal stakeholders. 
  • 11.  Actively manage supplier relationships and clearly communicate expectations and metrics; monitor and track the progress of supplier’s development, contributions, and conformance to agreements. 
  • 12.  Perform supplier audits and root cause analysis activities related to non-conforming materials, products or services. 
  • 13.  Maintain current understanding and knowledge base of industry best practices and strive to implement both internally and with suppliers.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

 

Education

Bachelors degree 

 

Experience

5 years’ experience in manufacturing, sourcing, commodity purchasing, or project management

Experience working in an ISO / AS, or equivalent Quality Management System Certified environment

Working knowledge to read drawings, tolerances, and dimensional data.

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Travel Requirements

10 – 15% to suppliers


Preferred Qualifications

 

Education

Bachelors degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or Business.

ISM / APICS Certified, Supply Chain Management Certification, PMP

Training or Certification in APQP, PPAP, SPC, Gage R&R, Auditing, Lean / Six Sigma, and / or Project Management, 5 Why

Knowledge of: Metrology practices and evaluation techniques, Industry specific quality registration schemes, Manufacturing Process Development, Characterization, Validation and troubleshooting.  

 

Experience

8 years’ experience in manufacturing, sourcing, commodity purchasing, or project management

High mix, low volume technical manufacturing sourcing

Demonstrated supplier development experience

Experience with DFARS and similar government and regulatory sourcing flow down requirements

Comprehensive mastery of ERP systems

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications specifically expert level Excel

Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work.
