Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Operations Support Manager, the Configuration Control Coordinator performs general duties pertaining to configuration control.  This employee is responsible for tracking and releasing engineering and manufacturing documents and maintaining those files.

 

Job Functions:

      Essential:

  • Inputs, tracks, and releases Manufacturing files and documents into the company database, both electronic and hard copies.
  • Will assist with engineering files and documents in the engineering database, both electronic and hard copies.
  • Releases and finalizes manufacturing documents such as planning, manufacturing assemblies, bill of materials, and master build records.
  • Maintains data files for on-line viewing.
  • Acts as a liaison between Engineering and Manufacturing departments.
  • Troubleshoots configuration control issues and oversees the resolution of the issue.
  • Analyzes data for retention/disposition, retrieval, verification, storage, and process/procedure development.
  • Reviews manufacturing and engineering documents to ensure adherence to configuration management procedures and policies.
  • Approves, verifies, schedules, and implements Change Control Board processes and documents.
  • Routes, verifies and archives First Article documents.
  • Creates, maintains and administers databases, storage and company forms.
  • Assists the operations team with scheduling and maintaining daily process flows.
  • Creates and releases Sales Order and Work Order paperwork as needed.

 

 

Marginal:

  • Performs other duties as deemed necessary or as required.
Qualifications

Job Qualifications:

      Experience: Five to seven years of document/configuration control or related experience is required.  Employee is expected to acquire the necessary information and skills to perform the job reasonably well within 90 days in the position.

 

      Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required, some college relating to the engineering field is preferred.

 

     

Skills: Skills expected include demonstrated computer skills and proficiency with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access. Working knowledge of Solid Works/Altium is preferred.  Must possess the ability to read schematic BOM’s, manufacturing and planning documentation.  Strong verbal and written skills are required.

 

      Certificates and Licenses: None required.

 

      Problem Solving: Frequent problem solving is required in this position.  Problems include resolving database accuracy issues and inconsistencies and suggestions to improve the Document/Configuration Control process, and supervising/resolving change control board documents and processes.

                                                                                      

      Decision Making: Frequent decision making is required in this position.  Decisions include troubleshooting configuration control issues and overseeing the resolution of those issues, assisting engineering and manufacturing managers in document creation, usage and administration, supervising configuration procedures and policies, and approval of change control board documents.

     

      Financial Accountability:  Employee is responsible for the safe use of departmental equipment.  Employee is not involved in authorization of departmental expenditures.

 

      Personal Relations:  Employee has frequent contact with other employees and other departments when coordinating the planning, engineering and manufacturing functions.

 

      Supervisory Responsibilities: This position supervises all databases, storage/retrieval/release of documents, and the change control board processes and documents.

 

      Work Environment: No adverse working conditions exist.  Frequent computer use is required for this position. This position performs work either on or near production environment which can be loud at times. 

 

      Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to perform office and computer work.  The employee can be required to occasionally lift items up to 10 pounds approximately 10% of the time.  Employee must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret manufacturing documentation; ability to write reports and other correspondence; and the ability to effectively discuss information and respond to questions from groups of managers and employees.
