Job Description:

Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for a Senior Mechanic – Lead Maintenance Supervisor at our Montgomery County Grinding Operations facility located in Derwood, MD and the Montgomery County Yard Trim Composting Facility located in Dickerson, MD. This position is responsible for performing the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment used for a variety of environmental projects. This role also provides supervision of maintenance staff and assists with overseeing daily project operations to ensure equipment reliability, safety compliance, and efficient facility operations.

Estimated Pay Range:

Senior Lead Mechanic: $70,193.75 - $96,532.80

Maintenance Supervisor: $63,816.48 - $87,753.12

Senior Maintenance Supervisor: $70,193.75 - $96,532.80

Lead Maintenance Supervisor: $77,226.24 - $106,186.06

Minimum Requirements:

All position levels require graduation from a standard high school or possession of GED equivalency certificate. Additional requirements include:

  • Senior Lead Mechanic: 8 years experience performing installation, repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment.

  • Maintenance Supervisor: 7 years experience performing installation, repair and maintenance of mechanical, electrical or electronic equipment in an industrial setting, including 3 years of supervisory responsibilities.

  • Senior Maintenance Supervisor: 8 years experience performing installation, repair and maintenance of mechanical, electrical or electronic equipment in a power generating facility, including 5 years of supervisory responsibilities.

  • Lead Maintenance Supervisor: 10 years experience performing installation, repair and maintenance of mechanical, electrical or electronic equipment in an industrial setting, including 7 years of supervisory responsibilities.

Formal schooling from an accredited vocational school with a major in a related field may be substituted for experience for all position levels. Education experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to three years of the required experience. Applicants may substitute Bachelor’ Degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering for 4 years of the required experience for the Maintenance Supervisor levels.

Must have a valid driver's license with less than 5 points. Some facilities may require possession of a valid CDL.
