Direct Support Professional – Des Moines 
**$1,000.00 Sign-On Bonus** 

Location: Des Moines, IA (Polk County) 
Company: To The Rescue 
Schedule: Full-Time | 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM; Monday–Friday (Occasional Saturdays) 
Pay: Hourly | $1,000.00 Sign-On Bonus

Make a tangible difference every day. To The Rescue is looking for active, dependable Direct Support Professionals to provide high-quality care for adults with disabilities. This is a dynamic role that keeps you on your feet, moving between home settings and community outings.

Key Responsibilities

Hands-On Core Care

  • Activities of Daily Living: Provide support by teaching and assisting individuals daily living skills including budgeting, meal preparation, and how to maintain a clean and organized living environment. 

Medical & Health Support

  • Medication Support: Provide reminders and skill-building support with medication routines in accordance with the member’s service plan and state guidelines; does not include administering medications.

Community Engagement & Transportation

  • Transportation & Community Access: Provide members access to their community by transporting them while teaching the necessary skills to plan, navigate, make appointments, and attend social activities.

  • Community Engagement: Facilitate and participate in community-based activities (e.g., shopping, volunteering, recreation) while building social skills, confidence, and independence.

Documentation & Safety

  • Daily Logs: Complete brief notes on services provided and any incidents to ensure compliance and quality care.

  • Crisis Response: Maintain a calm environment and use trained de-escalation or emergency techniques if a behavioral or medical need arises.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Valid driver’s license, reliable personal vehicle, and proof of auto insurance.

  • Ability to pass medication administration training (provided by the agency).

  • Basic computer skills for daily documentation.

Physical Requirements

  • Active Workday: Ability to stand, walk, and remain physically active throughout an 11-hour shift.

  • Lifting: Ability to lift/move 50 lbs frequently, and up to 80 lbs occasionally with proper support/techniques.

  • Physical Assistance: Ability to assist members with mobility.
