Position Overview

Under supervision, oversee, facilitate, process and maintain accurate records for the yard of scrap materials received and/or shipped. This position offers a clear pathway for advancement. Team members may begin in a production role and receive comprehensive, hands-on training. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Visually verify inbound/outbound vehicles on scale deck; enter weight in computer. 
  • Visually verify material type; enter code in computer. 
  • Process payment of customers, verifying information is correct and material ticket for corresponding customer and price is correct. 
  • File appropriate paperwork to support scheduled payments to be made. 
  • Answering incoming calls; give directions, handle questions and/or direct to appropriate area/person. 
  • Sort completed checks, distribute original to customers and maintain copies and backup for filing. 
  • Assists with cleanup duties at the end of production
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and monitor performance metrics.
  • Identifies different metals and sorts the various grades of according to specifications.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and consistently wear required PPE.
  • All other responsibilities and duties as assigned. 

Candidate Profile

Ideal candidates will demonstrate a proactive approach to work, a strong commitment to safety, and a willingness to learn and grow. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, and prior experience in metals or industrial operations is advantageous. Math aptitude necessary, must be able to multi-task when handling customers and vendors in person, on the phone, etc. Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude are essential.
