2 North is a 30 bed medical-surgical unit that provides acute care services to inpatients and observation patients. The unit specializes in Orthopedics, Gynecology, Urology, and Abdominal Surgery. 2N also can care for patients requiring remote telemetry. Our patient population includes pediatric, adolescent, adult and aging adult.

Responsibilities

The Unit Supervisor:

  • Provides leadership as part of the unit management team.

  • Coordinates unit management activities in conjunction with the manager/director.

  • Facilitates staff development within the unit in collaboration with the manager/director.

  • Implements the day-to-day operational plan of the unit under the direction of the manager/director.

  • Serves as a resource to other health team members on the assigned unit.

  • Collaborates with other departments to promote cost-effective health care.

  • May serve patients across the lifespan, including infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.

  • Assumes patient care assignments based on unit needs.

Qualifications

  • Two years experience as a clinical nurse.
  • BSN.
  • Current Iowa license to practice as a RN.
  • Writes, reads and speaks fluent English.
  • Completion of basic management courses within one year.
  • Candidates must successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment strength and agility test at Medium Level of Work.
