About The Position

We are seeking a licensed Optometrist for a locum tenens position in Iowa. This 42-day assignment begins on 04/28/2025, with a flexible schedule of up to 5 days per week from 8 AM to 5 PM. The optometrist will handle external/internal exams, refractions, diagnosis/treatment of eye conditions and systemic diseases. This role offers flexibility in scheduling and also offers the potential for extension.

Provider Type Needed: Optometrist 

Schedule: Flexible, up to 5 days/week, 8 AM - 5 PM

Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Perform comprehensive eye exams, including external and internal examinations 

• Conduct refractions and prescribe corrective lenses as needed 

• Diagnose and treat eye conditions and ocular diseases within scope of practice 

• Identify systemic diseases through eye examinations 

• Provide patient education on eye health and wellness 

• Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and staff 

• Document all care provided, including diagnoses, treatments, and patient education 

• Utilize maximeyes.com for patient management and record-keeping 

• Stay current with advancements in optometric care 

• Adapt to varying patient loads and clinic schedules 

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives as needed

Additional Information: 

• Must be licensed to practice optometry in Iowa 

• Comfortable working independently and as part of a healthcare team 

• Strong clinical skills and ability to manage diverse eye care needs 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

• Willingness to work flexible schedules based on clinic needs
