Position Summary: The Electrical Designer creates electrical line diagrams, floorplans, and construction documents in collaboration with Trileaf's Electrical Engineer, applying AutoCAD and Revit skills along with knowledge of electrical and fire codes, specifications, and construction techniques. 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research applicable electrical and fire codes to ensure all documents comply with applicable code requirements, with assistance and input from the Electrical Engineer
  • Complete 2-3 electrical sheets per set of construction documents, including line diagrams, electrical floorplans, lighting sheets, and panel schedules
  • Complete approximately 5-6 project sets per month, depending on project difficulty
  • Collaborate with the Electrical Engineer to produce accurate, code-compliant electrical construction documents
  • Develop electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Design electrical systems for buildings and industrial facilities
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure project specifications are met
  • Perform load calculations and determine electrical requirements
  • Select and specify electrical components, materials, and equipment
  • Prepare and review detailed plans and specifications for electrical installations
  • Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal electrical codes and standards
  • Coordinate with construction teams to assist with the installation of electrical systems
  • Conduct site visits to monitor the progress of electrical installations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical design issues
  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed and accurate designs
  • Prepare and submit necessary documentation and reports
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technological advancements
  • Perform cost estimates and assist in budget preparation for electrical projects
  • Participate in project meetings and provide technical guidance
  • Other duties as assigned

 Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to research and apply electrical and fire code requirements
  • Understanding of mechanical design elements
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, schematics, drawings, and models
  • Knowledge and prediction of physical principles, laws, and their interrelationships

 Education and Experience:

  • Associate's degree or greater in drafting, electrical engineering, architecture, or a similar field required
  • At least 1 year of professional experience in electrical drafting, utilizing AutoCAD or Revit

Licenses and Certifications:

  • No specific licenses or certifications required

  • This is primarily an office-based position
