Responsibilities:

  • Monitor ramp operations daily to ensure compliance with the FAA, TSA, OSHA, and airport authority safety regulations.
  • Conduct routine safety audits and inspections of equipment, vehicles, and employee practices within the AOA.
  • Investigate and document safety incidents, near misses, and non-compliance reports; lead corrective action plans.
  • Enforce Circle of Safety protocols, airside driving rules, and equipment staging requirements.
  • Support the Safety Department in Lytx video reviews, safety observations, and EDVIR compliance follow-ups.
  • Attend and lead daily shift briefings with ramp and driving teams.
  • Maintain up-to-date safety records and contribute to monthly safety performance metrics

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of DO&CO.

  • Assist with onboarding ramp personnel, including conducting safety briefings and AOA familiarization tours.
  • Ensure all new hires receive required PPE and training materials before starting work.
  • Monitor condition and availability of safety equipment (cones, chocks, reflective vests, wheel guides).
  • Coordinate with maintenance or procurement for repair or replacement of damaged equipment.
  • Support the Training Department by conducting airside safety refresher sessions and hands-on demonstrations.
  • Maintain training attendance logs and ensure records are filed for audits.
  • Perform or assist with random checks of catering vehicles for safety compliance (e.g., brake tests, backup alarms, reflective markings).
  • Ensure that all equipment operating in the AOA is compliant with airport and company regulations
  • Provide input on staffing levels needed for ramp safety coverage, especially during peak hours.
  • Support scheduling adjustments for holidays, weather events, or airline schedule changes

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Positions directly reporting to this position: 

  • Ramp Safety Officer
  • Driver Helper/ Driver Helper LEAD

BUILDING SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to overall Ramp Safety performance, the Ramp Safety Supervisor will also support and oversee building safety within the catering facility. This includes ensuring compliance with internal safety protocols and occupational health standards.

  • Conduct regular walk-throughs of the facility to identify and mitigate safety hazards.
  • Ensure fire exits, extinguishers, eyewash stations, and other emergency equipment are accessible and functional.
  • Support incident investigations and root cause analysis for facility-based injuries or safety violations.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and facility managers for prompt correction of safety-related issues.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in related field/Preferably as Ramp Safety Officer
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required); associate or bachelor's degree in safety management, aviation, or logistics (preferred).
  • Prior supervisory or lead experience strongly preferred.
  • Valid driver s license with a clean driving record; ability to obtain and maintain AOA badge and airside driving privileges.
  • Strong knowledge of ground handling equipment and airside operational procedures.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical tasks as needed.
