The Senior Accountant is responsible for supervising the company's accounting operations and financial close processes while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. This role coordinates key accounting functions, maintains compliance with applicable accounting standards, and regulatory requirements to support the company's growth and operational objectives.


Job responsibilities & duties:

  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analysis.
  • Manage company credit card programs across multiple business entities, ensuring timely reconciliation and compliance with company policies. 
  • Develop, document, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to strengthen financial processes.
  • Perform general ledger entries, reconciliations, and adjusting entries to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to Bookkeepers and the Accounts Payable   Clerk.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial projections by analyzing historical and current financial data.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency, and internal controls.
  • Protect the company’s value by keeping information confidential.
  • Other tasks as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of hands-on accounting and general ledger experience.
  • Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Time management and multitasking skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 

Working Hours & Location:

  • Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (flexibility required)
  • Occasional Saturdays and some holidays
  • Reporting base location: 1700 W Higgins Rd, Suite 320, Des Plaines, IL 60018
