We’re seeking a Controls Engineer to design, implement, and support industrial automation systems across mine operations. You’ll work on PLC/HMI/SCADA, drives, instrumentation, and plant network infrastructure—supporting both daily reliability and new capital projects. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, hands-on commissioning experience, and the ability to flex hours as project support demands.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement automated control systems with automatic and manual operating modes
Develop and integrate HMI solutions for operator control/monitoring (e.g., PanelView, Wonderware, Ignition)
Establish and maintain a Factory Information System for real-time operational data access across mine operations
Provide technical support to integrate standalone equipment into centralized control systems
Partner with operations and maintenance to improve system reliability, uptime, and safety
Troubleshoot and optimize PLCs, drives, instrumentation, and industrial networks
Support commissioning for new equipment installs and capital projects
Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality requirements
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline)
5+ years experience in industrial controls/automation
Proficiency with:
Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLCs
PowerFlex drives
HMI platforms such as PanelView, Wonderware, and/or Ignition
Experience with SCADA, industrial networking, and Windows/VMware infrastructure
Strong troubleshooting/analytical skills (root cause + corrective action mindset)
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
Ability to work flexible hours to support projects and operational needs
Preferred Qualifications
CMMS experience
Comfortable supporting 1st and 3rd shift needs (flex schedule / off-hours commissioning)
Familiarity with MSHA and federal mining regulations
