About the RoleÂ
At The Salvation Army Thrift Store, your work helps turn donations into funding for programs that support people in our community. We're seeking an organized and efficient Dispatcher to coordinate our pickup and delivery operations. This role is crucial in ensuring smooth logistics operations by managing pickup orders, coordinating routes, and supervising assistant dispatchers. You'll be responsible for routing pickup orders, tracking vehicles, maintaining records, and supporting our mission of serving those in need in our community.Â
What You’ll DoÂ
Dispatch OperationsÂ
- Route pickup orders to appropriate Production Assistants dailyÂ
- Track and maintain accurate records of vehicle locations and completed callsÂ
- Operate two-way radio equipment according to center policy and FCCÂ regulationsÂ
- Route same-day special donations efficientlyÂ
- Assign vehicles and coordinate all routesÂ

Supervision & CommunicationÂ
- Supervise assistant dispatcherÂ
- Conduct Production Assistant meetings when necessaryÂ
- Maintain open communication with Transportation Supervisor/Director of OperationsÂ
- Keep supervisor informed of any vehicle problems, accidents, or other issuesÂ
Â
Record KeepingÂ
- Track and file all pickup ticketsÂ
- Monitor and document completed callsÂ
- Assist phone receptionist when neededÂ
- Maintain accurate documentation of all operationsÂ

What You NeedÂ
RequiredÂ
Education & ExperienceÂ
- High school graduate or equivalentÂ
- Three to six months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combinationÂ
- Experience with two-way radio codes and operationÂ
- Experience in routing and transportation proceduresÂ
Â
Skills & AbilitiesÂ
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilitiesÂ
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsÂ
- Basic computer skills in data managementÂ
- Ability to read and write simple correspondenceÂ
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and divisionÂ
- Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentagesÂ
