SUMMARYÂ
The Hospice Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all volunteer program activities within the hospice organization. This role recruits, trains, and supports volunteers who contribute to the care and support of patients, families, and administrative operations, ensuring that volunteer services are compliant with regulatory standards and aligned with the mission of the organization.Â
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESÂ
Develop, implement, and manage the hospice volunteer program in compliance with federal, state, and organizational standardsÂ
Recruit, screen, and onboard volunteers for patient-facing and administrative support rolesÂ
Provide orientation and ongoing training for volunteersÂ
Assign volunteers to roles that align with their interests and patient needsÂ
Maintain accurate volunteer documentation, including hours, activities, background checks, and compliance recordsÂ
Monitor volunteer performance and provide coaching, recognition, and feedbackÂ
Collaborate with clinical and support staff to integrate volunteers effectively into care teamsÂ
Plan and coordinate volunteer appreciation events and recognition activitiesÂ
Ensure volunteer utilization meets Medicare Conditions of Participation requirements for hospiceÂ
Participate in community outreach efforts to promote the volunteer programÂ
Maintain strong communication with volunteers to support engagement and retentionÂ
Perform other duties as assignedÂ

QUALIFICATIONSÂ
1–2 years of experience coordinating volunteers, preferably in a healthcare or hospice settingÂ
Strong interpersonal and communication skillsÂ
Ability to work independently and manage multiple prioritiesÂ
Proficient in Microsoft Office and volunteer tracking systemsÂ
Compassionate, organized, and able to work with diverse populationsÂ
EDUCATION AND CREDENTIALSÂ
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferredÂ
