The Human Resources Generalist works alongside and supports the Human Resources Manager and the broader HR department. This role ensures that Company standards, as well as Federal, State, and Local regulations, are strictly followed across all HR processes. A primary focus of this position is maintaining positive labor-management relations, administering collective bargaining agreements, and ensuring regulatory compliance. This position reports to the Human Resources Manager.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS -- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
ā— Labor Relations & Union Compliance: Partner closely with the HR leadership team to manage and administer Union Agreements, actively participate in collective bargaining negotiations, and lead the grievance and arbitration resolution processes.
ā— Employee Relations & Conflict Resolution: Manage day-to-day employee relations, champion retention initiatives, and resolve workplace conflicts while maintaining a fair and compliant work environment.
ā— Investigations & Compliance: Conduct thorough investigations and draft comprehensive responses to EEOC, NLRB, and Wage & Hour charges, ensuring the company's risks are minimized.
ā— Regulatory & Legal Guidance: Provide expert guidance to management on employment laws, collective bargaining stipulations, and Company policies and procedures.
ā— EEO & Affirmative Action: Oversee Affirmative Action and EEO compliance, ensuring all workplace practices align with federal, state, and local statutory requirements.
ā— Leave & Claims Administration: Administer FMLA, ADA accommodations, Workers' Compensation, and unemployment claims processes seamlessly.
ā— Training & Development Coordination: Coordinate the implementation of training, development, and compliance programs that align with both Company and union requirements.
ā— HRIS & Record Keeping: Coordinate and manage all HRIS processes and ensure the strict preparation and maintenance of personnel records per Federal, State, and Local regulations.
ā— Safety & Health Oversight: Lead the administration of corporate safety and health programs and ensure strict adherence to all applicable safety practices.
ā— Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement across all non-recruitment Human Resources functions and processes.
ā— Culture & Service: Promote and exhibit Company culture, core values, and a high standard of customer service principles.
ā— Other duties as assigned by management.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
ā— Education: Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Business, Human Resources, or Labor Relations.
ā— Experience: Progressive Human Resources experience with a strong track record handling employee relations.
ā— Labor Experience: Required experience operating within a unionized environment; direct exposure to contract administration, grievances, or negotiations.
ā— Industry: Previous experience in a service-based business environment.
ā— Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (strong emphasis on Word & Excel), ADP and GSuite.
ā— Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, specifically regarding dispute resolution and investigative documentation.
ā— Travel: Valid driver's license. Occasional travel required, including the flexibility for temporary, long-term assignments at alternative company sites.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
ā— Occasional lifting from 5 - 40 lbs., unassisted (0 -- 15% of the time).
ā— Sitting for extended periods of time.
ā— Manual dexterity needed for keyboarding and other repetitive tasks.
ā— The ability to bend, crouch, or stand as necessary.
