Production Supervisor

Position Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising daily operations in a USDA‑regulated meat processing facility. This role ensures production lines run safely, efficiently, and in compliance with federal, state, and company requirements. The supervisor leads a team of production employees, supports continuous improvement, and ensures all activities meet food safety, quality, and humane handling standards.

Key Responsibilities

1st Shift- 4:30am - 2:30pm

Production Operations & Line Management

  • Supervise meat processing operations—including cutting, grinding, blending, packaging, and storage—to achieve daily production targets.
  • Ensure accuracy of yields, weights, portion sizes, and product specifications.
  • Monitor line speed, equipment performance, and labor utilization to reduce downtime and maximize throughput.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance to address equipment issues and plan preventive work.

Food Safety, USDA & Regulatory Compliance

  • Enforce compliance with USDA FSIS regulations, HACCP plans, SSOPs, GMPs, and company food safety programs.
  • Support pre‑op and post‑op inspections, USDA shifts, and internal audits.
  • Conduct regular verification checks on critical control points (CCPs) and intervene promptly on deviations.
  • Maintain documentation required for USDA review and plant traceability.

Quality Assurance & Product Integrity

  • Ensure adherence to product formulas, temperatures, labeling requirements, and allergen controls.
  • Collaborate with QC Department to investigate non‑conformances, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence.
  • Monitor standards, contamination prevention, and overall sanitary conditions.

Team Leadership & Workforce Development

  • Lead, train, and coach a team of production employees in meat‑processing work practices, safety, and quality expectations.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, address personnel issues, and support hiring decisions.
  • Promote cross‑training to build a flexible, capable workforce.

Safety & Humane Handling

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety programs.
  • Enforce safe work practices with knives, grinders, conveyors, and lifting requirements.
  • Support humane handling procedures and ensure all team members follow approved GMP regulations.  

Continuous Improvement & Operational Efficiency

  • Analyze production data (yields, labor efficiency, waste, downtime) and recommend improvements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Implement process changes that increase productivity while maintaining product safety and quality.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Complete shift reports, downtime logs, yield tracking, and inventory records accurately.
  • Maintain daily documentation required for USDA compliance and audits.
  • Communicate effectively during shift handovers and production meetings.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3–7 years of experience in meat processing or protein manufacturing.
  • 1–3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong understanding of HACCP, SSOP, USDA regulations, and meat industry GMPs.
  • Experience working in cold‑environment production (28–40°F typical).
  • Strong communication, leadership, and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Business, Operations, or related field.
  • Experience with ERP/production software (e.g., SAP, Ignition, Plex, Redzone).
  • Training or certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish or English/other language skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to [80 lbs] throughout a shift.
  • Ability to work in cold, wet, and high‑noise environments.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and variable shifts as needed.

Work Environment

This role works primarily on the production floor of a meat processing facility, which will include exposure to raw meat, allergens, sharp tools, moving machinery, and sanitation chemicals.


 


Monday - Friday and occasionally Saturdays when needed. 1st shift - 4:30am - 2:30pm
50-60 Hours
