We are seeking an experienced Commercial Electrical Project Manager to oversee large-scale electrical construction projects throughout the Detroit area. Projects may include hospitals, healthcare facilities, universities, institutional buildings, and other complex commercial developments.

The ideal candidate will have direct experience with a commercial electrical contractor or self-performing electrical construction company and the ability to manage projects from preconstruction turnover through final closeout. This role requires strong technical knowledge of electrical construction, financial management skills, and the ability to coordinate office and field teams while maintaining project profitability, schedule, quality, and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • Manage commercial electrical construction projects from preconstruction turnover through completion and closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, manpower plans, procurement plans, budgets, and execution strategies.
  • Oversee project financials, including budgets, cost forecasts, billing, committed costs, labor productivity, change orders, and profitability.
  • Coordinate superintendents, foremen, electricians, subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, general contractors, and internal teams.
  • Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, contracts, scopes of work, schedules, and other construction documents.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, project documentation, and closeout requirements.
  • Work closely with estimating teams to ensure a smooth transition from preconstruction to project execution.
  • Coordinate with BIM/VDC teams on constructability, clash detection, prefabrication, and field installation planning.
  • Lead project meetings and maintain communication with owners, general contractors, design teams, inspectors, and company leadership.
  • Monitor labor productivity, manpower needs, material availability, project costs, and schedule performance.
  • Identify and resolve labor, material, coordination, scheduling, and financial risks before they impact the project.
  • Support field leadership with the information, resources, materials, and decisions needed to maintain production.
  • Ensure projects meet established safety, quality, schedule, budget, and customer service objectives.
  • Oversee punch-list completion, commissioning coordination, documentation, and final project turnover.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, vendors, suppliers, and project partners.
  • 5+ years of Project Management experience in commercial electrical construction.
  • Experience working directly for a commercial electrical contractor or self-performing electrical construction company is required.
  • Strong understanding of commercial electrical systems, installation methods, construction sequencing, and field operations.
  • Proven ability to independently manage electrical projects from startup through final closeout.
  • Strong experience with project budgets, cost forecasting, billing, procurement, labor productivity, change orders, and profitability.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, contracts, scopes of work, and construction schedules.
  • Experience developing and managing manpower plans, schedules, procurement strategies, and cost projections.
  • Proven ability to coordinate field personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, general contractors, and internal departments.
  • Experience collaborating with estimating and BIM/VDC teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Financially accountable with the ability to identify and address project risks proactively.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Experience with healthcare, hospitals, higher education, institutional, or other large-scale commercial projects is strongly preferred.
