To develop our team in Detroit, we are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to support our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring, improving, and sustaining operational quality systems to ensure our products meet or exceed company, regulatory, and customer specifications and requirements. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams, especially production and maintenance, to reduce in process defects, improve process capability, and drive manufacturing excellence. |
- Identify data requirements and implement data collection processes necessary for accurate assessment of product and process capability, identify trends, and implement solutions.
- Investigate internal quality concerns, lead root cause analysis activities using structured problem-solving tools, implement preventive and corrective actions, and verify results.
- Support daily production activities, partnering with the team to improve quality, reduce scrap and rework, and reduce downtime.
- Ensure containment actions and sorting/auditing requirements are effectively implemented as necessary.
- Participate in internal and external audits, support the team in ensuring quality management system is effective, and compliance with standards are maintained.
- Train/mentor quality technicians and production operators in inspection standards, critical characteristics, and quality specifications.
- Assist in new product launch activities (i.e. PPAP, PFMEA, DFMEA, Run-at-Rate, etc.).
- Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data using quality tools such as SPC, Cp/Cpk, MSA, etc.
- Ensure KPIs are met by working to the overall plan.
- Adhere to workplace safety regulations.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned.
