Job Title:             Data Payroll Technician (ATU-Clerical Represented)

Office:   Transportation


General Summary

Under direct supervision, the Data Payroll Technician prepares weekly payroll at a terminal.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares weekly payroll in accordance with union contract provisions.
  • Computes wages and posts wage data to payroll records from timecards, subtracting deductions such as income tax withholdings, social security payments, union dues.
  • Posts accounts receivable and makes bank deposits.
  • Maintains employee vacation, sick and personal leave banks in accordance with union contract provisions.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years bookkeeping or payroll experience at a medium size organization.
  • Experience with manual and computerized payroll systems.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for minimum requirements.
  • Ability to operate a desktop calculator.
  • Proficient in Windows-based word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to interpret union contract agreements regarding pay provisions.
