We will be hiring for this position at our upcoming Georgia O'Keeffe: Architecture Job Fair! Please join us onsite at the DIA on Monday, July 13th and Monday, July 27th from 9:00am-3:30pm to participate in the hiring fair. This position will begin mid-August and end with the exhibition in early July of 2027.

JOB TITLE:  Exhibition Shop Associate

DEPARTMENT: Museum Shop

REPORTS TO: Retail Manager and Museum Shop Assistant Manager

CLASSIFICATION: Temporary, Part-Time, Non-Exempt

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY: Museum-Based

SCHEDULE: 28 Hours/Week


GENERAL SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Retail Manager and Museum Shop Assistant Manager, the Exhibition Shop Associate is responsible for all sales functions, maintenance, and recovery in the Museum Shop. Maintain an overall awareness of the entire work environment including major duties responsibilities.  


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Be responsible foropening and closing of the Museum Shops,accuratecash handling, reconciling daily transactions, resolving accounting discrepancies,and making deposits. 
  • Oversee all aspects of customer service on the sales floor, including greeting visitors, efficient andtimelytransaction processing, interactive demoing, and vast product and museum knowledge.
  • Understand, work, andachieve sales goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and budgets. 
  • Understand and work to achieve an increased approval rating on the Visitor Satisfaction Survey. 
  • Operate point-of-sales system efficiently ensuring fast transaction speed, knowledge of inventory, andaccurateinventory of merchandise. 
  • Be able to work independently inexhibitionandpop-upshops, as needed. This includes set up, event sales, and reconciliation, alone or with another team member. 
  • Continually increase knowledge of the DIA collection and relatedExhibition Shopmerchandise.  
  • Contribute actively to a warm andwelcomingatmosphere by greeting visitors andprovidingan exceptional experience.
  • Observe Exhibition Shop security procedures strictly and provide emergency response to the staff and public, as needed, under the guidance of the DIA Protection Services Policies. 
  • Apply DIA values to interactions to support a culture of belonging among internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 


QUALIFICATIONS


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

High school diploma or equivalent required. One (1) year retail experience required; specialty retail preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

  • Demonstrated collaboration skills to work across departments and divisions internally and with diverse stakeholders externally.  
  • Demonstrated ability to speak publicly, including presenting or sharing information in a clear, effective, and engaging manner suited to the audience.
  • Demonstrated skills to prioritize and complete multiple tasks to meet deadlines and goals. 
  • Ability tocalmly and professionally deescalate challenging situationswith visitors.
  • Ability to identify challenges and opportunities, engage others in their resolution, and recommend appropriate course of action.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strong customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with attention to detail and produce accurate results. 
  • Ability to retain product knowledge.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changes in priorities based on operational need.
  • Ability to work regularweekend,evening, and holiday hours.
  • Must be proficient in the latest version of Microsoft Office 365.
  • Must have proficiency in the use of remote work technology such as scheduling with, connecting to, and using digital collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams.
  • Must be able toestablishand maintain professional,productiveand courteous interactions that promote positive teamwork. This encompasses going beyond giving and receiving instructions and includes but is not limited to (a) performing work activities requiring interacting or speaking with others; and (b) responding appropriately to constructive feedback or suggestions for improvement from a supervisor.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to frequently carry, handle, and grasp. Must be able to be present on and navigate the entire sales floor up to 100% of each shift. This position requires occasional lifting, pulling, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and repetitive motions. Weight lifted or exerted is up to 25 lbs. daily for stocking items. High visual acuity is required for cash handling procedures and operating POS system. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and exchange accurate information using various methods including in-person, telephone and email.
