Job Summary:
The Manifold Technician III serves as a subject matter expert in mold maintenance, with the capability to handle the most complex teardown, diagnostics, and reassembly tasks. Apply deep technical knowledge to identify mold performance issues, support continuous improvement, and ensure molds operate at peak efficiency. May provide guidance to less experienced technicians, but the primary focus is on high-level technical execution and problem-solving.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assemble manifold systems according to engineering drawings and specifications. 
  • Perform functional, pressure, and leak testing. 
  • Troubleshoot complex assembly and performance issues. 
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation. 
  • Inspect components and finished assemblies for quality compliance. 
  • Maintain accurate production and testing records. 
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions. 
  • Follow safety procedures and quality standards. 
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams.
  • Evaluate part quality to identify potential mold-related defects and assist in root cause identification.
  • Independently perform preventive maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and component usage in ERP/IQMS systems.
  • Assist with process improvements by identifying recurring issues or inefficiencies in mold maintenance tasks.
  • May offer informal mentorship or technical guidance to Level I or II technicians when appropriate.
  • Ensure adherence to ISO, GMP, OSHA, and lean manufacturing standards in all maintenance activities.

Essential Qualifications:

  • High School diploma required; associate degree or technical certifications preferred.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in mold maintenance or tooling, with proven expertise in plastic injection molding.
  • Advanced mechanical and diagnostic skills.
  • Must have strong working knowledge of measurement tools. I.E. micrometers, calipers and dial indicators
  • Must have strong working knowledge of Basic shop machines i.e. lathe, Bridgeport and surface grinder.
  • Proficient in ERP systems, IQMS, and common software tools (Excel, Word).
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple complex maintenance tasks with precision.
  • Strong understanding of part/mold interaction, tooling wear patterns, and optimal maintenance intervals.
  • Excellent documentation and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with lean principles and continuous improvement practices in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of electrical/pneumatic schematics and PLCs. 
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience within medical device manufacturing.

  • Stand, walk, bend, squat, twist, reach or otherwise move frequently
  • Occasional repetitive motion and grasping
  • Occasional climbing to reach areas on machines or racks
  • Lift, move or otherwise transfer up to 50 lbs. occasionally, >20 lbs. frequently
  • Typically sits, grasps items or performs keyboarding for occasional operation of a computer
  • Exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards which may require respiratory protection
  • Travel by air or car frequently
