Under the direction of the Warehouse Manager, the Material Handler is primarily responsible for sorting, storing, taking inventory, keeping records and organizing for the shipping and distribution of supplies, equipment and tools stored in the warehouse. This role is also responsible for operating hand-operated lifts and/or automated equipment such as forklifts. Material Handler assures that supply areas are organized, maintained, and par levels are optimized to support customer demands. Displays professional, safe conduct in all interactions. Maintains positive working relationships with Manager, Lead, staff, other departments, and vendors.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure quality standards/installations and projects meet both client and internal stakeholder requirements.
- Responsible for maintaining clean and orderly stock locations.
- Restock supplies daily and rotate inventory supporting accurate inventory levels.
- Responsible for keeping dock clean daily.
- Receive daily materials per packing list in Oracle.
- Distribute supplies and equipment to department areas, while monitoring par levels for specific products to assure that appropriate levels are established in order not to affect production.
- Notify Inventory analyst of outdated or slow-moving inventory.
- Follow established channels of communication in handling routine and non-routine problems and recognizing issues that need referral to management.
- Efficiently utilize time in accomplishing work.
- Meet attendance standards; is punctual.
- Seek out productive duties in absence of guidance.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE
- A high school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2-5 years prior experience in similar role required.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Forklift License from ATCO will be required.
- Knowledge of construction materials and parts such as lumber, insulation, flooring, roofing, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, exterior and interior finishing is preferred.
- Computer skills required: Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Oracle knowledge.
- Strong interpersonal, customer service and problem-solving skills.
- Time-management, organized, and documentation skills.
- Prior experience in completing inventory control.

- Physical demands are moderate to high to complete job duties. This will include standing and walking for long periods, working in a space that lacks climate control and lifting objects with an established maximum weight. 8-10 hours a day.
- Good technical and mechanical skills; regular use of hands and fingers to operate various hand tools. 8-10 hours a day.
- Ability to speak/hear and use specific vision abilities such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus: 8-10 hrs a day.
- Frequent ability to reach with arms, grasp with hands and arms: 8 hrs a day.
- Position may require occasional need to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; climb or balance: 2-4 hrs a day.
