Position Summary

The Manager of Environmental Services leads and manages the operations and activities of the Environmental Services Department within assigned hospital locations. The manager ensures a clean, safe, sanitary environment while maintaining compliance with all State, Local, Federal, and Joint Commission regulations, policies, procedures, and performance standards.

Reporting Structure

  •  Reports to: Hospitality Director, Environmental Services 
  •  Matrix Reports to: Hospital Chief Operations Officer 
  •  Direct Reports: Yes 
Key Responsibilities

Quality & Compliance

  •  Evaluate existing systems and processes and recommend improvements. 
  •  Ensure compliance with Joint Commission (TJC), OSHA, EEOC, and other regulatory standards. 
  •  Maintain adherence to corporate integrity and compliance programs. 
  •  Manage all Environmental Services functions to maintain a sanitary and aesthetically pleasing environment. 
Operations

  •  Lead daily Environmental Services operations across patient and non-patient areas. 
  •  Manage assigned square footage and cleaning responsibilities. 
  •  Prepare departmental records, reports, and analyses, including bed turnaround metrics. 
Patient Experience

  •  Promote positive patient interactions and service excellence. 
  •  Support HCAHPS goals and patient satisfaction initiatives. 
  •  Participate in service recovery efforts when needed. 
  •  Act as a liaison between patients, physicians, staff, and Environmental Services. 
Leadership & Staff Development

  •  Recruit, train, develop, and evaluate Environmental Services team members. 
  •  Conduct competency assessments and performance reviews. 
  •  Coach and mentor staff to improve performance and engagement. 
  •  Drive employee engagement and accountability. 
Financial Management

  •  Manage departmental budgets and productivity targets. 
  •  Oversee purchasing of chemicals, equipment, linen, and supplies. 
  •  Ensure accurate GL coding and financial reporting. 
  •  Manage costs to achieve Net Spend per Adjusted Patient Day (APD) goals. 
  •  Maximize use of HealthTrust contracted vendors. 
Growth & Innovation

  •  Identify and implement innovative services, equipment, and processes. 
  •  Stay informed about industry best practices and advancements. 
Qualifications

Required

  •  High School Diploma 
  •  Minimum 3 years of Environmental Services management experience 
  •  Strong leadership and team management skills 
Preferred

  •  College Degree 
  •  Knowledge of hospital operations 
  •  Knowledge of healthcare financial metrics
