PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Medication Delivery Coordinator ensures reliable, timely, and fully compliant delivery of medications to villages, particularly those without an on‑site health aide, safeguarding patient access while reducing significant medical, regulatory, and operational risks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a resident of [Village Name] or surrounding area.
- Access to reliable transportation (e.g., ATV, snowmachine, vehicle, or walking).
- Valid Alaska’s Driver License.
- Eligible for Airport Operations Area (AOA) security access.
- Ability to respond to call-in requests as needed.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in healthcare, delivery, or logistics. Familiarity with HIPAA and medication handling procedures (training provided).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Medication Pickup: Arrives at the village airstrip at designated times to receive medication shipments from incoming flights and, when applicable, collect other shipments from Kanakanak hospital. Verifies all received items within one hour of receipt, reports any discrepancies to the village technician or pharmacist, ensures secure transport and storage, and reports any delays to the village pharmacy the same day.
- Secure Transport: Safely and promptly transports medications to the local clinic when staffed or directly to patients as directed when clinics are not staffed.
- Verification & Documentation: Confirms receipt of medication packages, completes delivery logs using QTrak, and reports any discrepancies or delays to Kanakanak Village Pharmacy.
- Signature Capture: Obtains the patient’s signature upon direct delivery.
- Undeliverable: Returns undeliverable medications in accordance with Pharmacy‑designated instructions and notifies Kanakanak Pharmacy
- Communication: Maintains contact with village technician, clinic staff when available and/or airline regarding flight schedules, delivery status, and any issues that may arise.
- Compliance: Follows all confidentiality, safety, and handling protocols in accordance with BBAHC hospital, local/State and Federal regulations.
