Basic Job Functions:

Position Summary


The Quality Lead at NIPG - Prince George (PGVA) serves as the on-shift quality authority for insulated panel manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for ensuring product conformance, leading root cause analysis activities, maintaining audit compliance, and reinforcing standardized work. The Quality Lead maintains a strong floor presence and partners with operations, shipping, and maintenance to protect the customer and the Nucor brand.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on-shift quality activities across all insulated panel manufacturing phases.
  • Verify finished panels, bundles, packaging, and documentation meet NIPG and customer requirements.
  • Stop, contain, and escalate nonconforming material; initiate immediate containment actions.
  • Ensure adherence to approved work instructions, engineering requirements, and MOC approvals.
  • Lead, facilitate, and document Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) for interal defects, customer claims, and audit findings using approved Nucor/NIPG tools.
  • Drive cross-functional engagement and verify corrective actions are implemented, effective, and sustained.
  • Plan, lead, and conduct audits for FM Approvals, Intertek, Canadian A660 (CWB), IAS, and Miami-Dade.
  • Maintain audit schedules, certification records, and compliance documentation; coordinate and track audit-related corrective actions.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for insulated panel products, processes, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with department leads to drive teamwork.
  • Reinforce visual controls and standardized processes while holding teammates accountable to safety and quality requirements.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Manufacturing quality inspection experience.
  • Ability to interprety specifications, drawings, and work instructions.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Be able to lift from varying heights and carry up to 50lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) knowledge of insulated panel products and processes.
  • 1-2 years of leadership or lead experience (formal or informal).
  • Experience supporting FM, Miami-Dade, CWB, or similar certifications.
  • Strong audit, RCA, and corrective action experience.
  • Prior quality control experience in manufacturing.
  • Prior experience with fabrication, design or inspection of fabrication reports and part drawings.

 

Condition of Employment:

  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and rotating schedules
