ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Share and support the mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of the school.
• Teach Catholic values and stories of faith through the daily curriculum.
• Provide instruction using play-based learning and hands-on teaching methods.
• Maintain classroom order and promote a positive, respectful, and faith-centered environment.
• Incorporate Catholic values into interactions and classroom management.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.
• Supervise students in various settings, including the classroom, lunchroom, and outdoor recess areas.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Witness of Gospel values

· Enthusiasm for teaching children

· Mature judgment and professional decorum

· Flexibility, sense of humor, and independent thinking

· Tolerance, sensitivity, and understanding toward children and adults

· Good physical and mental health

· Professionalism in attire, communication and demeanor

· Well-developed verbal and written communication skills

Additional Requirements:

1. Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (Policy #4211)

2. Appropriate Illinois State certification 

3. Maintain documentation and complete recertification on time

4. Complete diocesan requirements for religious instruction within three years of employment; maintain 18 hours of religious certification formation every three years

5. Demonstrate initiative, accountability, and positive communication with colleagues and administration

6. Maintain discretion with confidential or official information

7. Stay current in educational research and catechetical resources

Staring wage for SY 26/27 based on level of education (BA/BS -- MA/MS +30): $31,505 -- $35,831.
