About the Role

We’re looking for a skilled and driven Buyer to join our team at Sewer Equipment. In this role, you’ll take ownership of sourcing and purchasing steel and aluminum fabricated parts that are critical to our production. You’ll work with Engineering, Quality, and Production to ensure we’re buying the right parts from the right suppliers—on time and at the right cost.

This is a full-time, on-site role ideal for someone who thrives in a manufacturing environment and understands steel, aluminum, welding, and prints.

Key Responsibilities

Purchase fabricated metal components including laser-cut, formed, machined, and welded parts
Analyze quotes, lead times, and supplier capabilities to make smart sourcing decisions
Partner with Engineering to review drawings and confirm spec alignment
Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers
Monitor supplier performance on quality, delivery, and responsiveness
Manage inventory levels and lead times to keep production running smoothly
Identify and implement cost savings through sourcing strategy or supplier consolidation
Accurately maintain data (POs, part setups, lead times, pricing)

Skills & Experience We’re Looking For

2+ years in a buying or sourcing role, preferably in a manufacturing setting
Working knowledge of steel and aluminum fabrication processes
Ability to read technical drawings and manufacturing specifications
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
Detail-oriented, organized, and responsive
Team player who communicates well across departments and with supplier

Benefits Include

Total compensation $50,000 - $60,000, depending on experience
Eligible for Quarterly and Semi-Annual Bonuses

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

Commitments and Location

Full-Time Role based in Dixon, IL
Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm
