Join Our Team

Mountain Valley Hospice is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to provide safe and professional patient transport to and from our hospice homes, as well as between patients’ homes and healthcare facilities. This role is essential in ensuring a smooth and comfortable transition for patients receiving hospice care.

What You'll Do

  • Safely transport patients between hospice homes, private residences, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), and assisted living facilities (ALFs).
  • Assist with patient movement, ensuring proper lifting and transfer techniques to prevent injury and maintain patient safety.
  • Provide basic medical support as needed during transport, including monitoring vital signs and responding to patient needs within EMT scope of practice.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and hospice staff to coordinate transport logistics and ensure seamless transitions.
  • Maintain transport vehicle readiness, including checking equipment, cleanliness, and compliance with safety protocols.
  • Follow all hospice and state EMS regulations to ensure high-quality patient care during transport.

Qualifications

  • Valid North Carolina EMT certification 
  • Current CPR certification
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Strong interpersonal skills and compassionate bedside manner
  • Ability to lift and transfer patients safely
  • Experience in patient transport or EMS preferred
