We're looking for an experienced Field Maintenance Supervisor to lead our Aviation Maintenance Technicians and ensure our fleet remains safe, reliable, and mission-ready in Dothan, AL.
This position is ideal for a hands-on leader with strong Bell helicopter experience who enjoys mentoring technicians, coordinating maintenance operations, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance.
Position Summary
The Field Maintenance Supervisor provides leadership, guidance, and operational support to Aviation Maintenance Technicians across assigned field bases. This role works closely with the Part 135 Maintenance Manager and Director of Maintenance to coordinate maintenance activities, ensure regulatory compliance, promote technician development, and maintain maximum aircraft availability.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of making sound decisions in a fast-paced aviation environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Maintenance Operations
- Coordinate scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities with the Part 135 Maintenance Manager and Aviation Maintenance Technicians.
- Schedule maintenance while considering aircraft availability, weather, manpower, tooling, parts, facilities, and operational requirements.
- Ensure maintenance is completed efficiently to minimize aircraft downtime and maximize fleet readiness.
- Review and approve materials and parts requested by Aviation Maintenance Technicians.
- Conduct routine base audits to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Assist in planning long-term maintenance goals and operational strategies for assigned field bases.
Leadership & Team Development
- Supervise and support Aviation Maintenance Technicians assigned to field bases.
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions in partnership with the Director of Maintenance and Part 135 Maintenance Manager.
- Promote professional growth and ongoing development of maintenance personnel.
- Coordinate technician schedules, PTO, vacation requests, overtime, and staffing to ensure adequate maintenance coverage across all assigned locations.
Regulatory Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all maintenance is documented accurately and performed in accordance with FAA Title 14 CFR regulations, manufacturer maintenance manuals, and Survival Flight policies.
- Maintain the highest standards of aircraft airworthiness, safety, and maintenance quality.
- Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
Communication & Support
- Provide daily operational updates regarding after-hours maintenance calls and aircraft status.
- Coordinate technical and logistical support for field maintenance operations.
- Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation as required.
- Maintain effective communication with maintenance personnel, operations, leadership, vendors, and other internal stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an Aviation Science trade or vocational program, or equivalent aviation maintenance experience
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate
- Valid Driver's License
- Minimum two years of experience maintaining Bell 206L4 and/or Bell 407 helicopters
- Thorough knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs)
- Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Intermediate computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and email
Preferred Qualifications
- Three or more years of experience supporting an EMS helicopter program
- Three to five years of aviation maintenance supervisory experience
- FAA Inspection Authorization (IA)
- Previous Part 135 maintenance experience
