A CLT (Cross-Laminated Timber) or Glulam plant finishing production team member operates machinery and hand tools to sand, patch, trim, grade, and package large mass timber panels and beams to meet strict structural and aesthetic quality standards before shipping.
Core Responsibilities
    • Panel and Beam Finishing:
      • Operate wide-belt sanders, planers, and hand sanders to smooth wood surfaces.
      • Fill voids, knots, or minor defects using approved wood fillers and patching compounds.
      • Trim, cut, or route edges to precise blueprint dimensions using CNC routers or saws.
    • Quality Control:
      • Inspect finished timber products for visual defects, delamination, or surface cracks.
      • Measure dimensions and squareness to verify conformance with project specifications.
      • Mark and segregate non-conforming items for repair.
    • Packaging and Staging:
      • Apply protective sealants, edge tape, or end-seal coatings to prevent moisture damage.
      • Wrap finished products in protective plastic using strapping tools.
      • Attach labels, barcodes, and shipping tags with proper project and piece numbers.
      • Operate overhead cranes or forklifts to move finished goods to the storage yard.
Requirements and Skills
    • Physical Stamina:
      • Ability to stand, bend, and walk for long shifts (8 to 12 hours).
      • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and maneuver heavy materials.
    • Technical Abilities:
      • Basic competence using hand tools, pneumatic nailers, orbital sanders, and tape measures.
      • Ability to read production work orders, basic blueprints, and tape measure markings to the 1/16th inch.
    • Safety and Work Ethic:
      • Commitment to wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) like steel-toe or composite toe boots, safety glasses, safety vest and hearing protection.
      • Focus on factory safety rules around heavy machinery and moving overhead cranes.

CLT Plant - 1st shift -5a-230p Mon - Fri (occasional Saturdays) or 2nd shift - 2p-1030p Mon -Fri (occasional Saturdays) additional $1/hr for shift differential

Glulam Plant - 1st shift 6a-430p Mon - Fri (occasional Saturdays) or 2nd shift 2p-1030p Mon - Fri (occasional Saturdays)
